Love history, even if it's not pretty. Sometimes you have to see this side of history to understand. We'll maintained park has a meditation area and great visual area. Story time is worth the experience. If your into American history this is a must.
This is truly a beautifully spiritual place! So many quirky things happen everytime I'm here and today was the best of them. I always come to be a part of the Trail Of Tears Powwow, last year was canceled but this year its on and I'm really looking forward to going!! This site and others like it is extremely Important to the History of Native American Indians, education is key to learning truths and knowing that a lot of what we were taught in our History Books is wrong. I'm so happy to see that it's well taken care of, there needs to be more places like this...
Very nice park, very well maintained. Been a couple times, and the Powwow held there every September one time and hope to go again. The museum is small, but packed with interest artifacts and the Lady we spoke to on the days we visited was very nice and knowledgeable.
This is a good place to visit to learn and reflect more about this historical event. Will go back.
This property is where more than 10,000 Native Americans traveled on the Trail of Tears during the implementation of the Indian Removal Act to rest and receive provisions. Two Cherokee Chiefs fell ill on the journey and are buried in the Latham family cemetery. There is a statue of the two Chiefs to honor them. It is beautifully designed. All of the property is well maintained, and informational plaques can be found throughout. The museum staff is very knowledgable and friendly. This site is extremely important for our government to continue supporting in order to educate the public about Native American history.
The burial area could use a little more attention. Beautiful flowers and trees. But overall nice park to visit.
The frisbee course and the park seem to always be open. It's just the Cultural Center that has actual hours of operation. Come read their stories and reflect at the graveside of the brave Chiefs that tried to save their people
The Trail of Tears Commemorative Park in Hopkinsville, Kentucky is today's riding destination. Very nice and park that tells a little bit about the unwanted government movement of the Cherokee people. There are plenty of signs identifying a Trail of Tears route and this park expands on that. The man working the visitor center is helpful and knowledgeable. Some picnic tables and walking trails too. Definitely worth the visit. Restrooms are on site in a separate building.
A nice trail with information about the local history. Easy to walk and lots of parking. Free to visit.
Great experience, the worker there I forgot her name forgive me. Very helpful and in and in great knowledge of the Cherokee and the trail of tears.
