Awesome quiet and I do mean quiet maybe a bird every now and then but not much else I've seen considering the camping roads run along the top of the bluffs.
It was a nice quiet park yesterday. They do have camping and a lot of hiking trails.
I drive through here almost twice a week for relaxation and reflection. Please keep the forest clean please put your beer cans and bottles in the trash like the civilized, responsible humans, we are, and CLEAN UP THE CAMPSITE. Restrooms: They are systemically replacing the outhouse's, and they are nice. Please keep them that way by keeping them graffiti free. Picnic area: Picnic areas are nice, even if you're just passing through. Please clean up your mess.
Lots of interesting uphill trails. Just a beautiful place for a hike or family time great spots for a a picnic or there's grills and playground equipment. Pet friendly area so bring your dog we did everyone had a great time.
Such a beautiful area! Driving through during the fall is not only worth it, it's something you just can't pass up if the opportunity arises!
Absolutely gorgeous!! Great campsites and friendly staff.
So pretty can't wait to go back soon to see all the tiny flower buds in bloom.
A nice glimpse of what the forest in this part of the country looked like before our country expanded west of the Appalachians. Pleasant picnic areas. Clean, mowed and cool in the heat of summer. Campsites are well dispersed, and mainly on the ridge top, with decent airflow on summer nights. On those cooler nights search for the campsites with three-sided shelters built by the CCC that include fireplaces. During your visit be sure to reflect on the name of the state forest and the meaning behind it. We must pay attention to all aspects of history and make sure to improve the future for everyone.
A beautiful place for an 80-mile relay, though it is humbling to think about the horrendous events that are behind the naming of the forest.
Stop there and looked it over it was very quiet and I liked it.
