I was in scouting my entire life. This is amongst one of the best, most peaceful Boy Scouts of America properties I've ever been to. However, I do recommend if your child is going to attend to bring a bicycle. The Canvas tents are all in good shape, but the property is quite spread out. A bike makes a big difference in the fatigue of the boys at the end of the day.
Camping here with BSA for Camporee as a first-time adult leader was quite an experience. I overall enjoyed everything from the space available to the outdoor aspect of the camp. Restrooms: The restrooms and showers need a bit of work. I noticed a stream of water flowing out of one toilet when it was flushed. There was also a similar issue with one shower - when turned on, a spout of water would fly out and soak your items if hanging near the shower. This probably requires time and funding that might not be available, so it did not affect my overall rating of the camp.
Our Scout troop has started to choose TRJ and found the camp has a lot to offer and is within striking distance of DFW. You generally need to provide your own trained leaders to take advantage of the lake, pool, range and climbing tower, but that is fairly normal for a scout ranch.
This Scout Camp is Amazing. Unlike some of the camps close to the city, or adjacent to a loud neighboring property; This camp is secluded and serene. Archery, Rifles, Hiking, Fishing, Rock Climbing, and more.
A great scout ranch. Good facilities, friendly staffers, lots of activities for Scouts. Our troop has been here two years running and we like it.
Beautiful camp with an AWESOME staff. Every time we come out the Ranger is nothing but supportive.
Best place near Dallas for the boy scouts.
Camp Trevor Rees-Jones is a Cirlce10 Council Scout Camp. Great amenities and good location. The campsite can be booked online.
