Tufts University School of Medicine Department of Neuroscience
The faculty of the Department of Neuroscience have research programs in many areas of cellular and molecular neuroscience with emphasis on synapse neurobiology and the use of neurogenetics approaches. Faculty research interests are relevant for understanding neurological diseases including Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, ALS, autism-spectrum disorders, depression, anxiety, epilepsy and insomnias. An interactive group of departmental faculty is interested in neuron-glia interactions as related to neurological disease.
The Department of Neuroscience coordinates neuroscience educational and research programs within the Sackler School of Biomedical Sciences and the Tufts University School of Medicine. The department hosts the Tufts Neuroscience Seminar Series and a student/postdoc presentation series during the academic year.
In addition to educational and research activities, faculty of the department supervise activities of the Tufts Center for Neuroscience Research (CNR), a center funded by the National Institute of Neurological Disorders & Stroke (NINDS). The CNR supports four core research facilities located within departmental space, that provide services to all research labs of the medical school and its affiliated hospitals.
