Tulare City Historical Society
"The Tulare Historical Museum, which has been open to the public since 1985, highlights the city of Tulare’s rich and unique history. The site for this museum is in and of itself historic, replacing the century-old Central School in the 400 blocks of West Tulare Avenue. This museum houses artfully arranged exhibits, which tell the stories of the original inhabitants of the area the Yokuts, the founding of Tulare by the Southern Pacific Railroad, and the brave pioneers who persevered against overwhelming odds. The museum is the repository of truly unique collections dedicated to several of Tulare’s hometown heroes."

The staff was the sweetest and really helpful and the museum was so much fun for our family.
Interesting museum to learn about Tulare County. Supporting the Arts and bringing the community together.
I visited this museum on a cross state adventure from San Francisco to Anaheim back in February of 2020. Went in with no expectations, but as a museum manager myself I love visiting local establishments. When my friend and I went there was a military discount which wound up being free admission, and then, much to our surprise, the curator/director gave us a personal tour of the entire place. He was fantastic! Excellent at interpreting, knew his community history, and made the museum and it's historical pieces and stories that much more interesting, and engaging! We loved it! I wish I could remember his name, and honestly am slightly embarrassed that I do not, because his tour was among my favorite things in he entire trip. Upon exiting we purchased some books and reproductions of local canned fruit labels from the museum store. If I could give 10 stars to the dedication of this museum and it's personnel, volunteers, and community I would. I wish I had written this sooner, but I'm glad that I can now. Thank you so much, and continue with your mission and the excellent resources and work you provide for local visitors and travelers alike!
