Tulare Historical Museum 444 W. Tulare Ave. Tulare, CA 93274 559/686-2074 - Preserving the History of the City of Tulare.
"A jewel among the small museums of California."
The Tulare Historical Museum preserves and showcases the history of the City of Tulare and serves as a cultural center for the community.
"The Tulare Historical Museum, which has been open to the public since 1985, highlights the city of Tulare’s rich and unique history. The site for this museum is in and of itself historic, replacing the century-old Central School in the 400 blocks of West Tulare Avenue. This museum houses artfully arranged exhibits, which tell the stories of the original inhabitants of the area the Yokuts, the founding of Tulare by the Southern Pacific Railroad, and the brave pioneers who persevered against overwhelming odds. The museum is the repository of truly unique collections dedicated to several of Tulare’s hometown heroes."
