Seasoned instructors present general academics, along with Jewish customs, values, holidays, and experiences, in a warm, caring environment.
Preschool
In keeping with Jewish tradition, high value is placed on learning. A healthy emotional foundation, created through developmentally appropriate play and discovery, enhances the intellectual growth of children. At Tuvia, our students become successful members of a learning community of friends. Our teachers use hands-on lessons and learning centers to develop the cognitive, language, physiomotor, social, emotional, and creative skills of each child. Through the use of theme and holiday-based units, students are engaged in learning about the following subjects: Science, Math, Pre-writing, Pre-reading, Art, Health, Safety, Language, Social living, Perceptual & organizational skills and Physical Education.
Kindergarten
Tuvia offers a full-day, highly enriched kindergarten program that supports the development and academic needs of all kindergarten children as they grow and progress emotionally, cognitively, academically, socially, physically, and spiritually. We offer a small class size and individualized attention. Tuvia engenders a life-long love of learning, which is key to all future academic and personal success.
The Kindergarten curriculum is a fully-integrated, dual curriculum, combining California State standard-based curriculum with our Judaic curriculum, providing opportunities to create a well-rounded student through studies in the following areas: Reading, Writing, Math, Oral communication, Listening skills, Critical thinking skills, Judaic studies, Science, Social studies, Art, Music, Physical Education, Hebrew language acquisition as well as Gross and fine motor development.
Tuvia Enrichment Program
The Tuvia Parent Committee organizes and funds special events for the Tuvia children throughout the year. They occur during regular school hours and provide an opportunity for the children to be exposed to people and organizations from the community at large. Past events have included presentations from firefighters and police officers, participation in a drum circle, art appreciation through Bubble-art, and interactive sessions with marine and zoo life.
Afternoon Enrichment classes
Tuvia offers one-hour special interest classes Monday – Friday from 1:00pm – 2:00pm. These classes are open to our 3 & 4 year olds; if space is available, children who are not Tuvia students may also enroll. The cost of these classes is not covered in the regular tuition.
