As you pass through the members-only gated entrance, you are greeted by two ponds surrounded by the lodge, lawns, cabins, and tenting areas. Extraordinarily expensive, especially when compared to other similar clothing optional venues across the country, but I suppose desperate old gay guys in Maine don't mind paying a fortune for a mediocre place to hook up. $40 for a day, well over $100 for a basic tent site is quite the racket, or just a total rip off. Editing to reflect the dishonesty of the owners response. No ageism or internalized homophobia, just honest criticism of the expensive prices, and sorry if I would prefer men my own age and most there are much older or are looking for that experience. I have been to several clothing optional resorts and twin ponds simply pales in comparison. For instance, my favorite would be Roseland in West Virginia. Their yearly membership is $25, and day passes are as low as $15, overnight start at less than $50, it sits on 220acres well away from any main rd, and offers 10x the amenities. And the owners aren't obnoxious and argumentative, and misleading as is the response below. If twin ponds was gaining over 100 new yearly memberships a month, which you're required to pay for to only visit once the place would be overrun with guys, but it's not, so that should tell anyone enough about repeat customers. Heck, look at any gay dating/hook up app, and you'll see the regulars as well. Either way I'm happy to frolic in my birthday suit somewhere else!
The new and improved lodge is a quiet slice of heaven! It's a peaceful and laid-back camping experience. I recommend spending a week or weekend here to get away. Indoor pool and hot tub are bonuses to the clothing optional lodge! We will stay here again!! Restrooms: Clean and owners take pride in keeping the place clean
This was our first time at Twin Ponds and we have never been so welcome and comfortable at any establishment so quickly in our lives. Roberto and Tommy, the new owners, were absolutely lovely and kind and open to any and all of our questions. Everyone was extremely respectful and friendly. It was quite possibly the cleanest and most organized place we have been in a very long time. 150% recommend Twin Ponds to anyone interested in staying. Go, go, go!!!! You will have a blast!
I had such a great time! The owners were super friendly and helpful. Everything was very clean. Made a ton of new friends too. I stayed in a camper rented from TPL and it had everything needed! Including a shower. Loved the indoor pool and hot tub and the tubes in the lake. There’s also a steam room and sauna. Very worth the 4 hour drive. I’ll be back before end of summer.
I was there for my first time. I stayed from 6/30-7/4. Not a bad place to relax have fun with other males. This is a all male resort and we know how that goes. But overall very friendly, clean fun place to get away to. New owner and he is updating the place so somethings need attention. But go support this place it is a great gay feel, fun place.
Great place to relax, enjoy the pool, hot tub, sauna and steam room. Great hiking trails and campgrounds.
I went up on a Friday to check it out. I went home Friday night, got up Saturday morning. Packed up my camping stuff. And I've been there every weekend since. The owners are great guys, they're doing awesome job keeping the place clean and welcoming I would recommend anybody to go there and stay or just go and visit for the day Restrooms: The bathrooms are clean Dog-friendliness: There are many dogs there, they are very friendly about dogs. Just not allowed in the lodge and you need to clean up after your dog.
Finally, owners who care. This place is TRANSFORMED. don’t miss this opportunity for a very relaxing weekend or week! Steam room, sauna, pool at 90 degrees!! hot tub, play rooms, very friendly and helpful staff. Don’t miss the opportunity. Stop in for a night or book a vacation. Takeout food is literally 5 mins away, or you can cook your own in the community kitchen. Pot lucks are common!
Such an amazing time we had this weekend. The management team was EXTREMELY FRIENDLY and helpful both upon our arrival and during our entire stay. This is a special place that you will definitely want to come visit for so many reasons. The facilities are amazing in so many ways for what they have to offer the guests and EXTREMELY CLEAN and updated. The other guests really make you feel so welcome and feeling like you have known them forever very quickly. Me and my husband can’t speak highly enough about the campground. EXTREMELY CLEAN Rentable cabins and trailers are onsite as well if you just want to come and check it out before making an investment in a camper of your own should that be the route you want to explore. This is a definite must try, we have and have already made reservations for two more times to come visit.
I've been a permanent here for 3 years. Great place. People are like family and the new owners give thier all! Definitely worth the trip!!
