If only they would hire staff for the emergency room intake desk that were taught this is a place for healing and compassion. Today, the staff refused to assist my niece simply because she got here before the ambulance. They sent her to the main hospital and the lovely staff there were kind and walked her back here to the ER to advocate for her to be properly helped. When your loved one has a stroke, it’s scary. There is no need for nastiness. If you don’t know how to help, find someone who can.
They saved My life and gave My confidence back! I had gastric sleeve surgery on 10/8 with Dr.Thompson and it’s the best decision I ever made! The whole experience from the first appointment to post-op was wonderful! In 6months I didn’t have a single complaint or bad experience from the weight loss center, cardiology, pulmonary, fitness, lab and many more! Thompson and His group are amazing! Thank You for changing My life! 3.5 months post op and 62lbs down! Highly recommend!
I hate to have to write negative reviews but this one to me is warranted. I had a surgery done in 2021 and my surgeon was amazing, however, once I got to the floor I was literally treated like I was non-existent. My nurse came and did my vitals but when asked for assistance with pain management she was never available. So needless to say I was in a lot of pain while in the care of the staff there. I didn't complain or even right a negative review at that time because I wanted to think this was just because of nurses being tired from the COVID situations. Fast-forward to a year later, my son was having pain from an infection, after a visit to urgent care and nothing was resolved we went to ER at UC. Waited about 2hrs to get called back, it was a little busy. Once back in room advised nurse and then doctor of situation with pain. Pain med was subscribed and medication, once those were provided to my son for comfort nothing seem to help, waiting for the doctor to come back to tell them nothing was improving, the nurse comes back with discharged paperwork and prescriptions. I explained that we were not ready as the pain was still just as bad as when we walked in. More testing was done and after testing needless to say he had to be admitted. After 14hr in ER finally due to room availability he was moved to a room on the floor. Nurses on the floor were not really advised apparently on why he was admitted as the questions were if he was just being seen. I can go on about the care on the floor but lets just say it was horrible and the communication seemed to be lacking between shifts. Overall the experiences I have had with the UC West Chester Staff has just been not acceptable. This facility seems to need some training and get back to basic caring for patients. If I didn't love my regular doctors I would not continue to support UC Health.
This is my review I put for the ER but everyone needs to know how badly I was treated. I went to get checked in for the ER because of chest neck and head pain, when I get there I get caught off mid sentence by a nurse. I don’t know what she was honestly behind the counter. She tells me not to expect a miracle and this may have been the wrong place for me. I was in so much pain and had so much fear that is the reason I even went to emergency. Isn’t that what it’s for? Did she think I wanted to be there for fun? Like getting a large hospital bill was for fun? I felt so defeated and heart broken hearing her speak to me in such a heartless way that I ran away crying because of everything she said to me. She followed me to the parking lot saying that’s not what she meant. But after I told her that the way she spoke to me was not how you talk to someone seeking help. I will never go back.
They may have a lot awards for cleanliness ,maybe if they took that pride into their patients they would be better. If u are over a certain age, beware i hope u have someone fighting for you to get better. They will write u off very quickly. After we transferred our loved one of 83 to another hospital, the new hospital found out she was severely dehydrated, needed oxygen, lacked nutrition and other things. They basically said west Chester was letting her die. . They never had her on oxygen while there, their PT people never pushed her to rehab. Now she is recovering and doing well. STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOSPITAL
My doctor sent me to the UC West Chester emergency room for chest pains and breathing problem. He told me to go immediately. I am now sItting in the emergency room for 5 hours and still have people ahead of me who have been here waiting even longer. I am told it could be another 2-4 hours or more. Update…..I have now been here over 8 hours and when I ask how much longer all they tell me is they have no idea. Some people have told me they have been here 10 hours and still waiting. Others are walking out in disgust. I can not imagine a worse emergency room experience than this.
I'm sure the experience will be different depending on which part of the hospital you are in and who you are dealing with. It's a very large compound full of very differing personalities and backgrounds. I wanted to take the time to give a good review specifically to the women's center certified nurse practitioner Gaileen Doxsie. She is extremely attentive and sharp and clearly cares about what she's doing for a living. I feel lucky to be seeing her so far, and trust that my health issue will be addressed. Thank you deeply for being so strong and amazing!
I just wanted to thank everyone that assisted in a surgery my husband had yesterday. Every single person was absolutely wonderful. From the moment we walked in and registered until he was released I was so comfortable in knowing that the care he received was above expectations. All of our questions were answered, I was kept informed every step of the way during the process and I was so extremely happy that not only did I not have to stop at a pharmacy after the long day that we had, but was asked if they could deliver the medication right to me in the surgical waiting area. Thank you so much for the care we experienced.
Tuesday 7/26/22 I was sent to the ER to be admitted per my surgeon. I was 11 days post-op and experiencing severe abdominal pain and vomiting. To the point that I couldn't even open my eyes. Once I arrived in the ER I had to sit and wait my turn just as everyone else. Which I completely understand. Once I got to the back I have no idea how long it took bc of the shape I was in. Some smart ellic nurse said to the other one that I was just coughing into the puke bag. These nurses continued to make snide remarks about how I was making too much noise and so on. After having a CT scan and emergency surgery for a double bowel obstruction I was sent to the 4th floor where I encountered the absolute worst nursing staff ever. The first one being the red head Tracy. I wouldn't let her care for my dog let alone another human being. There were a few others that I'm trying to remember the names of as well. Absolutely the worst. The first individual that made me feel safe and cared for was an aide named Loren and I made sure that I told her that she was the first person to show me any type of compassion whatsoever. The other individual who made a HUGE impact on me was Toniesha the lady from housekeeping. She too was so caring and compassionate. I fully intend on filing a complaint elsewhere until someone listens. I have never had such an issue with this hospital until now. My surgeons are top notch and I could not say enough good things about them. The individuals in PACU that night were also so fantastic. They apologized over and over again for the ER staff. I was in the hospital for a week and it didn't get much better sadly.
On December 17 I was out of the ER was discharged. Nothing was explained to me did not realize that there was a problem took a good 10 days for other doctors to call me about these results. I was told to call the ER department at Westchester to have an ER doctor go over them with me only to get a extremely rude person who then hung up on me because according to her I would have to drive all the way back out there to see a doctor again but based on the notes and the miss information that they put in my chart, I don’t ever want to go back out there I would just like to know what the results of my blood test were for example, I know what platelets are and at 1:10 when a normal female should be between 137 and 400 that can be a problem, but I guess you see Woeste Chester I don’t really care. They make enough money working out there that anyone who has a patient is below them and that is exactly how you get treated. Beware go any place else
