Stop by the USG office (Student Union, Room 219) Monday through Friday, 9-4:30pm.
The Undergraduate Student Government (USG) at the University of Connecticut is the official voice of the undergraduate student population. USG works with administrators, student groups and outside stakeholders to improve the overall student experience.
There are five standing committees which work on specific issue areas:
1. Funding Board, chaired by Lysette Johnson, allocates $1 million in funding each semester to Tier-II student organizations. This committee is not currently accepting members, as they have a set number of members to be confirmed by our Senate body. They are entrusted with the voting rights that allocate the funding budget to student groups. You may still attend, however, at 8:00p every Monday in SU 218.
2. External Affairs, chaired by Haley Hinton, works with state and federal representatives to ensure the student body is represented effectively, and meets at 2:00p every Monday in SU 304C.
3. Academic Affairs, chaired by Venkatram Gopal, works with administrators and student groups to improve the academic experience for undergraduates, and meets at 6:00p every Thursday in SU 218.
4. Student Development, chaired by Alyssa Crooks, addresses all issues surrounding student values, pride, and retention, and meets at 3:30p every Monday in SU 218.
5. Student Services advocates on student life topics such as dining, safety, and recreation to many services like Dining Services, UCPD, and Recreation Services, and meets at 6:00p every Tuesday in SU 218.
Student leaders in USG also represent the student body on a variety of other university senate committees chaired by members of the administration. More information can be found by visiting the UConn University Senate website here: http://senate.uconn.edu
You can also visit us during our Undergraduate Student Government Senate meeting every other Wednesday at 6:30p in the SU Ballroom to voice your opinion during our Public Comment section and to meet your Academic or Residential Senator.
USG also oversees the Student Organization Center, which is open Monday through Friday from 11:00a to 10:00p. It is a resource for any student to use to obtain copies from for certain events, and as a meeting space or study space.
