Worst place I have ever seen, no doctor in the emergency room, spent 3 hours see a doctor after seeing my doctor spent an hour get my prescription, I wondering what the manager is doing!!!! The personnel are so chatting with each other, do not care of paint. If you like care and quick response don't come here specially 10 pm to 7 am. No one teak care
Couldn't even get a hold of their patient advocates after being abused by two nurses. I wouldn't recommend taking anyone you care for here. It's been months and I still have nightmares about it. Plus for all I can tell me original review is gone. Edit: I got an notification with my original review after posting this telling me to call patients advocate. Which would be great if I was able to get in contact with them the first time. But, also even after scrolling through all the reviews couldn't find mine again. Please Advocate for family members with mental illnesses, don't bring them here. They will be belittled and treated like they're lying. Don't turn what's already a terrifying moment into something much worse. Don't worry, they internally investigated and determined they didn't do anything wrong.
I will never return to a University Hospital and I think it's important for people to release that Health Care professionals are licensed to practice and I'd rather them not practice on me especially with the bed side manners I was shown. I will be honest there was one very sweet and caring health care worker who made sure I received food and she was exceptional and rare. I am not sure why but the quality of medical devises and training at UH is obvious in comparison to other Hospitals. This I might have over looked yet they lacked to provide the stabilizing treatment of my immediate healthcare needs. I am grateful that God and Gabriel harkened to heal me for this could have very well had serious effects on my health for their negligence. I would also like to express my great concern that anyone who provide you with a Hipaa Laws disclosures implying that the patient is familiar with these landmark health privacy laws yet breaches a patients health care information carelessly is in serious violation of the authority delegated to them by God. I hope that with this information they use it to improve because that just might be their saving grace. And I hope that this review may be a saving grace to someone else who is unsure in choosing a health care provider that is right for them and their needs. Health Care Is A Right, Not A Privilege !
UPDATE: we left. No one saw her. She sat in a room for 4 hours, alone and in excruciating pain 7 hours and counting. My partner is in severe pain and has been sitting in an exam room for nearly 4 hours and no one has come to check on her. Luckily she has her phone to communicate with me, because what if she was alone and passed out in there? Would she just die? I'm sure we'll get a hefty bill when the overworked, overstretched and stressed doctor finally sees her. No wonder why people hate working for hospitals and are leaving in droves. You can tell this place is horribly managed and run by people who are more interested in saving a penny than saving a life, and those left working here are stressed to the max and doing their best in a terribly run hospital. This place is horribly understaffed. I'm sure though, the directors and board members are all cozy in their mansions, driving Bentleys, cashing in on people's suffering. Can't wait to get charged thousands for this experience.
My complaint is more with Ravenna, Ohio. But University Hospital- YOU must complain to the city on signage! Last night I had to take my brother who has stage 4 cancer to the closest UH Hospital because of something they found on a brain scan. On Google Maps they said I was 27 minutes away. Everything was easy finding the place UNTIL I got off the highway and found out quickly that Ravenna, Ohio in this area DOESN'T HAVE STREET SIGNS!!?? You have street signs but they are all small bent and faded.. plus no street lights. You didn't have any "Blue H", Hospital signage anywhere!!!???? I was lost, I kept driving and driving worrying about my brother. I actually went all the way to Cleveland, because of you.. which took 1 hour plus. Pathetic city. Spend some money some street signs!!!!!! I'm talking about the importance of a Hospital. How cheap are you??
My spouse had two heart in January and February 2023. She was treated quickly and professionally at the UH-Ravenna ER in the night during both crises.
The staff member that check on me was awesome. It was the nurse practitioner that had a chip on her shoulder. She stated I did not have sinusitis. I told her what else what it be. She said check for other issues. Then I sat for a hours for nothing. Went to a different hospital at night and I was helped in minutes. It took 68 min Folsom start to finish. Received meds and back home. Plus being a veteran and served. God will get with y’all folks at portage. Know wonder they have 2 stars. The front desk people cool but the people that fix issues were not.
Being in the ER is never a great experience and encountering a caring ED staff - from front desk, nurses, and doctors- is definitely rare— but thankfully they have made this awful time a little better by being attentive and providing timely care with a good bedside manner.
Any ER at 3 AM is going to be busy, but UH and their staff were understanding, caring and did the best they could even with having call-offs heard them say. Thank you for taking a scary/stressful night and making me feel not so alone while being alone in an ER
Went in around 8pm on a Sunday for a nosebleed that was going on for 40+ minutes. Told me to sit down and wait, only to realize the wait time was over 2 hours as i’m practically soaking the gauze in blood in the waiting room with 6+ people. It stopped after 30 more minutes and so I left because I wasn’t going to wait another hour+ and they still charged me. One staff member was nice, others were rude and seemed like they hate their job. Do not recommend, especially if it’s an actual emergency and you want to be treated in the same day lol
