This is the official Facebook page for the Department of Writing, Rhetoric, and Digital Studies at the University of Kentucky.
The newest department in the College of Arts and Sciences, we are dedicated to the study and teaching of writing practices, public rhetoric, and digital media. With 15 faculty (nine tenure-stream faculty, six lecturers) and two staff members, we serve over 5,000 undergraduates each year and offer a brand new BA/BS degree in Writing, Rhetoric, and Digital Studies.
A BA/BS in Writing, Rhetoric, and Digital offers students three tracks: Professional Writing and Editing, Rhetorical Theory and Practice, and Digital Studies.
Professional Writing and Editing. Ideal for students interested in editing and publishing careers or writing for/within nonprofits or business.
Rhetorical Theory and Practice. Perfect for students interested in a career involving public advocacy, government, or law.
Digital Studies. Exemplary for students interested in not only understanding how electronic spaces are designed, but also learning how to write and produce content for digital audiences. A Digital Studies concentration is complimentary to a myriad of possible careers.
Not sure about a major? We also offer a minor in Writing, Rhetoric, and Digital Studies. The coursework is the perfect compliment to any degree or the foundation for a future WRD major.
Are you interested in any of these three tracks or the minor? We want to hear from you! E-mail Director of Undergraduate Studies Dr. Brian McNely today at ([email protected]) and schedule an appointment.
