Have been here twice in the past 5 years for my children to have dental work. The staff has always been awesome. Very friendly and thorough. I was impressed with my last visit on January 19. My 3 year old son had major dental work under general anesthesia. He had an awesome team. Since he has second degree heartblock, several precautions were taken. He had a cardiologist team on stand-by. Doctors called the next couple of days to check in on him. Couldn't have had a better experience. Thanks!!
If you can afford it, go somewhere else. Getting in touch with anyone who cares is impossible and the endontics department is trash. The only saving grace is once you get a student dentist, they're super nice and caring, but that's not enough to makeup for the management.
A number of years ago they worked on me and pulled most of my teeth. The results were horrible . The lowers are loose and the uppers never fit and would cause me to reflex gag making them impossible to wear. They continuously told me I had to get use to them, that never happened. Covid entered the picture and I could never reach anyone. When I finally got through they told me they weren't taking new patients and I could not get them to understand I wasn't a new patient. Terrible treatment, don't put yourself in this untenable position.
This has been the most uncomfortable, frustrating & unprofessional experience I have had in my life! The receptionist is rude, the periodontist secretary was rude & no one appeared to know who was the patient care advocate that customers could speak to. The 2 dental students worked on me were professional & concerned. I was hoping for a great outcome since there’s a diverse staff but my experience with the University of Maryland School of Dentistry was terrible. I would never recommend this School of Dentistry to anyone.
The faculty practice team were very discriminating, racist and disrespectful. If you plan on being employed and your African American don’t waist your time. My family member have worked as a dental receptionist for over 3 years, coming to the job with experience they fired her. The only black one up front. Telling her she’s illiterate in her emails. She had one warning for being late they fired her after letting her work the whole shift ! They have lost my support. She has felt completely uncomfortable since she has walked through the door. She works very hard and is good at what she does, to be told she’s not “fit” for the position when she has proof of experience and employment history makes no sense to me . To be treated this way as if she’s inhumane is ridiculous. Please don’t support .
I have been coming since March. I got a root canal and a crown. Also have gotten some filings, I'm on my 2nd dentist as my first one graduated. My only complaint is the prices don't seem to be that much lower then a dentist in private practice.
My experience over the last year has been absolutely horrible. I’ve actually spent over a year with no teeth. Can you even imagine. I don’t even go out into public. Over 10,000 dollars and still no dentures. I’ve seen them for years and before the denture process I would have highly recommended them. But if you need dentures do not go there!
This is one of the best places to get adult dental care in Maryland! Shoshawna, a third year student, has been restoring my 65 year-old husband’s teeth and taking care of long term dental issues he has had for more than 10 years. His teeth and gums have never been so healthy and he’s not afraid to smile anymore. Shoshawna is very sweet, kind, and thorough and meticulous in her work. She is going to be an amazing dentist! My husband even fell asleep in the chair while she was working on his teeth, she is so skilled and painless! I recently started going, I have multiple health conditions and my teeth have to be healthy so my conditions don’t worsen. I see Anjali, also a third year, and she is fantastic! Like Shoshawna, she is friendly and kind, both students are excellent and effective communicators. Anjali cleaned my teeth today and I’ve never had such a thorough cleaning in any other dental office! She removed every speck of calculus and my teeth look like they’ve been polished like pearls! They feel really clean and smooth. Yes the appointments take a bit longer because the dentist checks all their work but that just means your teeth get a good second look by a licensed dentist and the students are usually spot on with what the dentist says. They take a detailed health and medication history even before any work begins. I’ll also be able to afford dental implants here because the cost is a fraction of what you would pay in a private practice and they have a payment plan. I can’t say enough good things about the UM Dental School!
7/17/2023 10:00am. The receptionist Tierra is horrible! She answered the phone as if it was her personal phone and got upset when I asked for her name. Dodged a bullet with this place! She also advised me to callback daily to check if there any openings for new patients. Retraining is necessary!!
At age 43 I got my braces put on at the School of Dentistry with a low payment plan. For 3 years I enjoyed the task of caring for my teeth. Now I’m 64 and I need some care to my teeth again. I use public transportation and am too far away DC to come regularly. Any suggestions. I need a front bridge and so far priced at $6,187. Wow!
