Originally opened in 1915, the St. Paul Gymnasium underwent major renovations in 1990 and 1998 to meet the needs of the growing campus community. Located on the University of Minnesota’s St. Paul Campus, the facility serves approximately 1,000 patrons on an average weekday during the academic year. In 2002, the St. Paul Gymnasium was named an Outstanding Facility by the National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association.

Love the place because I don’t have to worry about parking but I can’t find everything for weight training. But the pool is pretty big and nice and also have a great running trail.
To be totally honest, we are cancelling our membership after 3 months. We have the alumni membership since we live nearby and it isn’t worth the money for the hassle you have to deal with. First thing is that there just isn’t enough equipment. 3 racks, small number of machines, and only 6-7 treadmills across the whole place. Second, we just received a parking ticket for parking at the gym we pay for. As we left, U of M police issued tickets to at least 15 cars in the parking lot, claiming we need to buy a contract parking permit for the gym we already pay for. I’m not sure you can get any greedier. Students pay for the membership, community members pay, and alumni pay. There’s no reason for people to need to buy a parking pass on top of the gym membership, AND the locker fee. For these reasons, we are cancelling our membership tonight.
Awesome gym! Clean basketball court. It was spotless. Never needed to wipe once! They have a ton of amenities too.
Parking was a bit confusing. No explanation given for swim lesson families.
This gym is associated with University of Minnesota. Very close to my workplace and not crowded most of the time. You will be able to get done most of your workouts.
The St. Paul gym is smaller and if you work at the U it can be a great price students it's free so it's even better. There is some bouldering along with rock climbing. I will say, when it is busy you just have to wait to get on the machines.
Great for basketball games. There is a pretty steady pick up game with good competition 3 days/wk. Nice pool and good workout center. Everything you need without being crowded.
Great staff! Incredibly well maintained! Very well prepared for practicing social distancing and safe environment to workout in public. A favorite place of mine
Good gym that isn't crowded. Small and not as updated as the East Bank gym, but has most of the equipment you'd need.
Good gym always open, never really crowded. Well maintained and clean.
