The University of Windsor Outstanding Scholars research program aims to create a close mentoring relationship between exceptional students and faculty.
The University of Windsor Outstanding Scholars Program challenges and stimulates students by providing them with unique opportunities for academic discovery.
Each fall, the University of Windsor offers candidacy in the Outstanding Scholars Program to the top 150 students entering first-year studies directly from high school. During their first year of study, Outstanding Scholars are mentored by the Program Coordinator and Program Advisor to prepare them to hold an Academic Appointment starting in their second year. During their Academic Appointments in their second, third, and fourth years, Outstanding Scholars work closely with faculty on research and other important academic projects prior to your graduate studies. You will enjoy the kind of personal attention and one-to-one contact with faculty that can open doors to future careers. You will also compete for financial support for travel to academic conferences, and for research funding opportunities outside Canada.
As an Outstanding Scholar, you will have the chance to lay the groundwork for your future achievements and develop your passion for learning. You will interact with professors and other students who are also passionate about their studies, and begin to forge interdisciplinary connections.
Outstanding Scholars candidacy is available in all our full-time, honours academic programs. No separate application is required.
The Outstanding Scholars program aims to create a close mentoring relationship between exceptional students and faculty. Students pursue academic exploration in a research setting, and faculty serve as supervisors and guides in the research process.
