They pay you good money for your clothes when you sell to them. But the reason I’m giving 2 stars is because 3 different workers in the front were working on my clothes and I told them to make sure they put everything back in the same bag because I separated them by shorts, pants , jackets, shirts , dresses , etc and I was going to take them to other stores to sell as well….and well they didn’t listen to me. Lamely enough they ended up not returning one of my reusable sky blue tote bags that was filled with brand new designer bohemian and eclectic outfits . I never got it back. Before I left the store, I talked to one of the guy’s to make sure they gave me all of my bags back, and I asked if they were sure they gave me everything back, and he said yes. So when I realized my bag of tops and dresses was missing, I called and was told my bag was in their store and they ended up donating it. Eventually, I was going to donate what didn’t get bought but what’s lame is they took away my chance of selling to other locations. They made it inconvenient for me to sell my remainder clothes to other stores because I had a handful of two- piece top/ bottom outfits, which they inconveniently did not bother to keep together. So when i was selling to other thrift shops I was left with 1 piece of my 2 piece outfits because the other half of the outfit was apparently in the bag Uptown Cheapskate donated. Out of all the bags it happened to be THE ONE with the new, designer clothing. Eventually I was going to donate the remainder but first I wanted sell to other spots. Before leaving I had asked a guy up front to double check that everything was given back and he said everything was given back to me 100% . So I didn’t doubt him. But this is a super lame example of how a strangers carelessness can have an affect on another persons financial plans. It would’ve been great if they just kept everything together as I asked them too. So long story short count how many bags you bring in and make sure they give you all your bags back . Especially the bags filled with your money making items .
If you want to sell items, read these tips... I worked with Kari, who was very nice, professional and efficient. Take only on-trend items targeted at teens/young adults. They bought all my shoes I took time to clean them well, all my Levi's and a few t-shirts. She said they are buying back-to-school items now. I did not do well with embellished jeans, high end brand clothing items that aren't "young" enough. Overall good experience. Clean your closet for cash.
I personally love shopping at the store but my selling experience was less than stellar. I specifically sold at the mockingbird location as a first time seller on Saturday November 5th. There was no clear direction on how long it would take or the official process. When I was ready to see what my final amount was I was received by less than friendly staff at the counter giving me mixed signals on where to go. I’m writing this as I stand in line and it’s just underwhelming to have this experience as a first time seller. I understand that employees may be upset or having a rough day but when someone greets you or talks to you with a smile and kindness it would be nice to feel like they are reciprocating especially when they work in customer service.
This was my first time coming here and I was impressed by the brand selection. A lot of name brand items - lots of lululemon, Levis, and designer handbags. The brands are impressive, but not so much the styles. Nothing particularly trendy or unique. Also, it was really frustrating shopping because almost every other piece of clothing I looked at was in the wrong size section. None of the pants/jeans seemed to be in the right size section. It was really annoying. The employees weren’t very helpful or friendly either. When I tried something on, the fitting room attendant didn’t even greet me and just looked annoyed. I probably won’t be coming back here unless I’m looking for some lululemon.
this is the best second hand clothing store in Dallas. I consistently find well priced, name brand, barely worn clothes here. I barely ever shop new retail anymore. Friendly staff & well organized
I called to see what time I could sell my clothes by at 6:40 pm. I was told as long as I get there before 7 pm it would be fine. I get there at 6:47 and I’m told “oh sorry we won’t be able to do it in time” I told the girl I just spoke to that someone said I could bring my clothes as long as it was before 7. The girl I spoke to on the phone was nearby and said “oh sorry I didn’t realize we were busy”. Awesome service guys.
Being a penny-pincher that loves fine quality clothing, a store named Uptown Cheapskate certainly appeals to me. My search for a hoodie brought me in today but I couldn't find any I liked. Instead, I walked away with a cardigan from Banana Republic and a pair of Levi's 501s. The sweater was $20 and the jeans cost $35. The reason I bought the jeans is because I couldn't believe that I found a pair that fit me. I have trouble finding brand-new pants in my size, much less at a used clothing store. Sweet! Now the reason I didn't score UC higher is because I made the mistake of trying to shop this small store on a busy Saturday. Hard to browse the racks when you are constantly side-stepping pushy soccer moms and their kids. Also, on average UC was higher than their competitors. There was a wait for a dressing room to open up but check-out was a breeze. I will return but on a weekday next time.
So there are some cute clothes but the prices on some are bananas. Found a cute hoodie, 32? It was probably 10$ at Walmart. I could do better at marshals and their clothes are new. But the reason I’m writing this.. I’m standing in here waiting as I write this, for my gf to finish trying things on. we are leaving a bit sooner than planned since they don’t let customers use their bathroom. I’m literally standing here in white pants with a full tampon. Thanks guys.. but this girl isn’t impressed. I can’t wait to leave this store. Hopefully with my white pants still white..very sad experience for me
The store made us wait for more than hour just to say that they can’t accept the clothes since the models would be difficult for them to sell which is totally fine! But why the wait and the worse is they didn’t call my name when they had my bag ready- i had to keep asking them over and over before they gave me my bag back
Not for me but could be for you. They do keep a certain look i do like. But if you are looking for a variety in my opinion it's not there. In the female section about 75 percent is size small. Also some of the cost seems a bit higher for some items then it needs to be in my opinion . I've visited 2x one the weekend and one day during the week to see any difference not much. The staff didn't speak neither times.
