The food is delicious. The cabins are great, the lake was beautiful and there is so much more to see! I had a pretty darn good time!
The location is incredible with so much to offer. The staff is so kind & very helpful.
Terrible experience. When I spoke to the director before signing up my child i was told they had all the supports for a child like mine and assured she would have a great summer. 8 days later they are not able to host her. They have you fill out many forms and have conversations but then don’t follow your guidance. They withheld from her the one thing she was so interested in doing “as a reward” - um isn’t summer camp supposed to be fun? Why is my child not being able to experience the fun? Also apparently when children throw tantrums they give in and then wonder why the child won’t listen to them. So upset about how they have treated our family and our dear sweet 9 year old. My advice is find a camp where they know how to support and provide love to your children for an amazing summer. This isn’t it.
It's a beautiful place. I didn't explore much as I was busy working with an Emmaus team. There were problems with the sound equipment. We brought a praise band and the systems provided at all 3 locations were good quality for solo, duo or acoustic music just inadequate for a worship band. The rooms were way better than average for a camp and the food was more like a good restaurant cuisine than camp food. All in all very nice and great accommodating people to work with.
Bullied for 7 summers at this place. I also watched many others get bullied, put down, belittled and outright tormented. As a counselor I even tried my best to stop this behavior and stand up for the victimized campers, only to be patronized all over again myself by more senior staff Who had themselves bullied me when we were campers together. The son of the man who designed the camp was treated horribly just because he had disabilities. Ironically I learned how to be a better person by witnessing people doing bad things to each other there. For all of this to happen for so many years at a Jewish camp all I can say is SHANDA!
Kitchen staff needs TRAINED managers. Putting your hands on a minor and being verbally aggressive is HARASSMENT. Petra’s behavior needs to be addressed immediately. The very least management can do is address the issue professionally and act concerned rather than dismiss the traumatic experience. Please do better, it is your responsibility as an adult and as a representative for GFC. Unacceptable!
Great people, great programming. Wonderful place for kids and adults alike. They were very accommodating my physical disabilities.
An amazing experience for children of all ages. Set in the rolling hills, adjacent to the lake, the scenery is quintessential summer camp. The year round programming and amazing staff have created an oasis for generations of families to connect and explore. Thank you GFC.
Gorgeous setting, holistic environment, liberal loving bubble, and a bit utopia peace on earth. The only thing missing is more sculptural art on the fields.
Please, if your child has any special needs or challenges, employ extreme caution before signing them up to attend Greene. Although we were guaranteed many wonderful sounding things prior to our child's attendance this previous summer, they turned out to be mainly empty promises. Although Greene employs a special staff to deal with any special needs/challenges, when the rubber hit the road they were incapable of handling what should have been very minor issues. Our child ended up coming home early because of the staff's inability to handle these issues. We had high hopes for Greene and were 100% on board, but will not be returning.
