Park was on the streets or the side of the building. There was only one staff on the counter and she was great. She was super friendly and very helpful. We went into change address and get a PO Box and made it so easy.
Just like a lot of things in Brockport it has not changed inside since it was built. The old post office boxes, the vestibule the windows to see a clerk and high ceilings. Mailed a package and was quick. Parking could be an issue curbside but there is a side street near by. It has been renamed by an act of Congress in memory of a fallen soldier, Staff Sergeant Nicholas J. Reid in 2014. unknown branch.
Tomorrow I will make my last visit to the post office on Main Street in Brockport, and I am looking forward to never having to do business there again. My main complaint revolves around accessibility--I use a walker and cannot climb/descend steps. There is a ramp in front of the building but time and time again the push button door at the top of the ramp was not unlocked and I had to bang repeatedly on the door in order to grab someone's attention and have them open the door for me. After several such instances, I filed a complaint with the USPS online and, for a while, the door was always in working order. Then, a few weeks ago, history repeated itself. The employee who eventually opened the door gave me a dirty look, did not apologize, and hurried into the back room. I asked the counter clerk why the door wasn't working; her response: staff had forgotten to unlock the door because "not too many people like you" come to the post office !. Also, perhaps as a COVID measure, there are huge table separating customers from the actual counter, which makes it difficult for people of average height and thus arm span to reach the payment machine. And although once in a while I have encountered a pleasant clerk, for the most part the clerks I dealt with bordered on surliness. I have lived in many cities/states and thus have done business in many post offices. Apart from the horrors on offer in Brooklyn nearly 20 years ago, the Brockport post office ranks lowest on my list. Joke's on me: My last visit to the Brockport post office was NOT today...'cause the credit/debit machines were not working apparently nation-wide but try finding any info online. If I were a true paranoid, I'd say this major inconvenience was payback for my initial negative posting, but that nuts I am not. Good news: the push button door was unlocked and the clerk was truly apologetic re the inconvenience. Hope my last, last visit goes well! Time to Eat Crow: Made a really stupid mistake on my change of address card...and Supervisor Shane went way out of his way to correct my idiocy shout out to my former carrier, Dave, too. Their professionalism and kindness was great--but still doesn't erase the problems I had with accessibility and other employees' attitudes. Bottom line, though: Thank You, Shane!
These are some of the most miserable people I have ever encountered in my life. They act as though you are putting them out by having them do basic functions of their job, like purchasing postage or mailing a package. I've been to many post offices and am not really sure if I've encountered a more miserable group of women.
The hours posted for Saturday say the P. O closes at 2:00 pm. That said, someone inside decided 1:00 pm would be a better time to close. They posted a sticky note on the door informing any hapless person showing up after 1:00 pm that they were just SOL. Hey... it can wait until Monday. Whatever! They are just a Federal operation people are supposed to rely on.
My main mail carrier is great, timely and accurate. BUT. Any time he is not in for the day, mail either doesn't show up at all or I get bent, ripped and incorrectly addressed items. Some weeks I get circulars every day, some weeks I get absolutely nothing for 7-10 days. I've gotten two helpful ladies at the counter here, but the younger staff are rude and aren't worth talking to. I asked about a package that missed morning dispatch and was definitely at the office, the woman on the phone told me I could stop in later and they'd find it. When I actually went there the woman at the counter scoffed at me and said "we don't sort anything til the next day" and walked away from me. It's asinine that we have to rely on a service that can't get out of its own way and has absolutely zero oversight.
Constantly get neighbors mail and packages. Our mailbox is never closed, so our mail is often wet, and with the wind out here, God knows how much is blown away- I've watched the mailman literally drive up to deliver the mail and never fully stop his truck, so he doesn't bother to push the mailbox door closed. Hes also always talking on the phone while driving the truck. yesterday, they decided to deliver a poster in a 3' tube by putting it in my mailbox, which left it not only sticking out into the road 2', but also easily could have been stolen, and also left my mailbox open and my mail exposed to the wet, snowy weather. A number of people on our road have talked to him and called and complained, but nothing has changed.
The clerk's at the counter treat you like an inept ninny. This location's people need to be trained an Customer SERVICE! 5/18/2020 Update: While USPS.com says you can buy and cash a Postal Money at any location. They would not cash mine even though I have an PO Box at the same location. The USPS should have never become a sudo government/private business coloboration.
Lost my rent check, and lost two $100 packages of important items I need for my newborn baby, and my mail is always bent and ripped. The mail carrier is HORRIBLE and has no sense of respect.
Worst experience with a postal service!!!! Will never use brockport Services again...READ ALL reviews all mostly the same packages lost/damaged....same exact from everyone I hear...this post office NEEDS to rehire all new employees. TERRIBLE.... calling 800 to report this location!!!
