Usery Mountain Regional Park is a hidden gem! We had a great time. The trails are easy to follow, and the views are stunning. We did the Wind Cave Trail and loved it. The park is clean, and there's plenty of wildlife to see. It's a peaceful and beautiful place for a hike. We'll be back for more outdoor adventures!
Usery Mountain Regional Park is fantastic! They have nice hiking trails with desert views. It's a peaceful place to be with nature. The park is clean and well-kept. I enjoyed my visit and recommend it for anyone who loves the outdoors. It's a beautiful spot to explore the Arizona desert.
I recently had the pleasure of visiting Usery Mountain park, and I must say that it was an incredible experience. From the moment I arrived, I was struck by the sheer beauty and majesty of the park's rugged terrain, which was unlike anything I had ever seen before. One of the things that impressed me most about the park was its incredible diversity of plant and animal life. Despite the harsh and seemingly inhospitable conditions of the desert, the park was teeming with all sorts of creatures, from lizards and snakes to birds and mammals. I was particularly taken with the park's stunning array of cacti, which came in all shapes and sizes and seemed to glow in the warm desert sun. Another highlight of my visit was the park's numerous hiking trails, which offered breathtaking views of the surrounding desert landscape. I spent hours exploring the park's rugged terrain, marveling at the towering rock formations, dramatic canyons, and sparkling streams that dotted the landscape. But perhaps what impressed me most about the park was the sense of peace and tranquility that pervaded the entire area. Despite the park's popularity, I found myself able to completely disconnect from the stresses of everyday life and immerse myself in the serene beauty of the desert. Overall, I would highly recommend this Regional park to anyone looking for a unique and unforgettable outdoor experience. Whether you're an avid hiker, a nature lover, or simply looking to escape the hustle and bustle of city life, this park has something to offer everyone. So pack your sunscreen, lace up your hiking boots, and get ready to be awed by the natural wonders of the desert.
We love Usery! Tons of trails with all ranges of difficulty. We did a night hike 10/1/23 & saw a huge snake on the trail! Gorgeous. An owl flew right by us too & a frog almost jumped on our shoes.
We absolutely love camping at Usery Mountain Regional Park! We travel back and forth from Texas to California to visit relatives and always stay in the Buckhorn Campground. It’s water and electric 30/50 amp, there is a dump station and plenty of bath houses scattered throughout the campground. we’ve always been within a short walk to a bathroom through the many gravel paths cut through the desert. The scenery is amazing, the hikes are great when it’s not too hot. We especially like the hike up the Wind Cave. In the evenings you can sometimes see the headlamp of someone hiking up the mountain to the cave in the dark. That’s amazing, but something I’m not going to try!
I absolutely loved this park! It was gorgeous! There are trails everywhere for biking and hiking. The desert ecosystem is mesmerizing and this sits at the base of beautiful mountains. There are several covered picnic areas and playground equipment for the kids. The best part of the day was being able to view the fantastic sunset. I included some pictures, but it hardly does justice to the beauty of seeing it in person. Enjoy!
We loved this campground. The only thing that would make it better would be full hook-ups. There was 50 amp power and water, but no sewer hook-up. Sani-dump was available. We had site 26. Site was spacious with mountain views. Our site was clean and raked and most would easily handle our 36' fifth wheel. Rangers were helpful and had guided bird walks. The visitor center has wi-fi and has a nice bird feeding area. Hiking trails were nice with lovely views and came by the campground. Close to town and Lost Dutchman State Park. Closer to town, this park had more distant sounds of civilization than Cave Creek - some traffic, airplanes etc. - but not a problem. Maricopa County Parks offer the best RV camping in the greater Phoenix area in our opinion. But they aren't resorts. They are places to enjoy the natural beauty of the area and the great outdoors.
a wonderful place to do some hiking meditation! very peaceful if you go early enough when the guns at the range aren't going off! if you are itchin' to get a close up look of different varieties of cacti, this is a great place to do so! went on the 7+ mile pass mountain trail. lots of lovely wildflowers and wildlife!
Great trails, but you can hear the gun range which takes away from the experience a bit. This trip we ran into a guy flying a loud screeching drone around the Wind Cave turn off. We confronted him and he told us the law had changed and he was allowed to fly it. I hope this isn't the case as it's a very annoying sound and it scares the wildlife; this was especially noticable in the birds. Dog-friendliness: Dog friendly, but they must be on a leash.
This was a very nice campground. Very clean. My only complaint would be the lady who was screaming at someone after 10 pm . Other than that, I would recommend for a fun family camping trip . And there are places to swim not far away .
