I have been to about 12 VA Outpatient clinics since 2007 and 3 VA Hospitals. The Hospitals were pretty good. Unfortunately the Outpatient clinics are for the most part Terrible. And the Viera VA .... well...the word .. HIDEOUS is me being kind
Mercury Doctors are horrible communicators. The nurses are very good and apparently the ones that should be running the show. Dr. Dyer is not a great communicator, I was told I'd have results in 24 hours and I ended up having to send numerous emails along with several phone messages only to find out that 15 minutes after she read my first email that she had sent a letter in the mail to respond to my inquiry. Really???? In today's day and age of emails and smart phones... Very dissatisfied with this PCM and I'd much rather return to my tri-care prime network providers.
Prosthetics saw me walking up to the window at 4:30pm exactly, unfortunately the time they close and closed the window in my face. I'm just picking up a wrist brace after waiting for radiology and lab. I knocked and they just yelled at me they're closed. Other than that everyone else I've dealt with was a pleasure. But Prosthetics definitely strikes up my mental health issues.
Viera VA clinic is a nice place, but these days, they are overbooked, and it takes a long time to get an appointment or even a response through secure email. When I do get a response, it's rushed and often does not address the problem, rather, just a wave off. The tone seems to insinuate that I am bothering them. Aren't they supposed to be there for all vets? These days, I've had to drive up to Lake Nona for treatments.
Had an appointment with endoscopy today and it was a nightmare at every level - nurse gave me a needle in my arm which fell out, blood squirted everywhere, anesthesia doctor then diagnoses me with some "condition" that he states mostly only women get... guess Im not man enough? Then the GI doctor asks questions 10 feet away, behind monitors like its a wall. More to the story which I am bringing up to the VA. Incredibly rude experience.
I have been getting my veteran care at this facility for more than 10 years... My current primary care Doctor Welch is a five-star caregiver... Always listening for patient concerns.. the primary care nurse Marie is outstanding in every way.. so proud to have served our country and be a proud American getting outstanding care from the viera medical facility
They say 22 vets a day commit suicide. It's no wonder if you go to this clinic. You'd be better off in another war before battling to get seen in this clinic. The staff doesn't care about you. They don't care about you're well being. Advocates are only there to get your care to decline to force you to give up so you choose not to use the VA and opt out. Don't worry though. Our lives only mattered when we were serving. Now that we're out it doesn't. Avoid this clinic like the plague.
Hit and Miss if they actually get back to you , half the time they will ask you to leave a message and never get back to you , and they will set up an appointment last minute and call you non stop 1 hour before and then mark you as "NO SHOW." The people answering the phone are rude and will hang up for no reason other than sheer laziness and hope that eventually you will give up on trying. I would also like to mention I have had great success with this VA when everything is in sync , but to have that happen you have to make sure they are actually doing their job at the front desk so you can actually see the doctor. I have seen it from both sides from calling and having them hangup or just put you on hold , and I have seen them do this as I am standing in front of them and they are talking to another patient. Its a shame that we allow people of this caliber to even work in a place as sacred as the VA, but it doesn't sup me one bit since the VA has been screwing veterans since day 1. If you are able to actually get in and see a doctor and get the desk weasels to do their job , then you will get great care but stay on top of it or they will toss you in a spiral that can lead to triggers and your eventual demise.
As a visitor from the Notth, I needed 3 treatments t the Viera VA Clonic. I was warmly welcomed by nursing staff and soon on a first name basis. My 3 treatments professionally applied. As I exited, Got a nice hug from staff. Thanx VA…bvbbbb
Recently relocated to Space Coast area from KY. Called in to see about ‘moving’ to this Clinic. Following the phone prompts, I skipped over ‘enrollment’ as I am already enrolled. Selecting ‘0’ to speak with someone. Upon being connected to a real person, I stated my circumstances and asked if I could ‘update’ to this location. I was then told that I needed to go through ‘enrollment’. SMH. Even more frustrating, the automated voice stated that ‘transfers’ could not be done over the phone and I needed to physically show up at the Orlando VA, not this Viera-Melbourne location. Question? Why didn’t the person I spoke with know this to share, knowing my request. Would have saved both of us time, not to mention my growing frustration. Suggestion: update automated responses to press # x. for ‘enrollment AND transfers’ or more specifically add disclaimer stating transfers must be done in person, saving ALL the time and frustration…. Sigh….
