The Vallejo Police Department was established in 1900. The first five officers were appointed on April 5, 1900. The first Police Chief was W. T. Stanford. Today's force continues to maintain service to the citizens of Vallejo with a Patrol Division, Traffic Division, Investigations Division and the Community Services Section. The department currently has two School Resource Officers working in the Vallejo schools.
Police Chief Andrew Bidou currently heads the organization. He is the tenth person to serve in that capacity.
