Description

The Richmond Police Department has undergone rapid growth and evolution over the past several years. Concurrently, we have and will continue to adopt, tailor and perfect the best practices in the field in order to maintain a balanced fusion of effective policing methodologies that support and enhance our crime reduction and crime prevention goals.

Our three-district, geographic policing model emphasizes beat ownership, collaboration and partnerships. It is rooted in community policing philosophy and requires teamwork, cooperation, community engagement and analytic problem-solving in order to achieve the best results. Accurate and timely crime data and the Comp-Stat process are important tools to help our police managers account for the proportional use of resources in order to address crime and disorder problems intelligently. Technology also figures prominently in our delivery police services. Our Computer Aided Dispatch system, known as “CAD” allows for precise call tracking and transmission. It is coupled with a Records Management System and the integration of Crimeview® crime data tracking and mapping software.

Mission

The mission of the Richmond Police Department is to prevent crime and to maintain order by providing Constitutional and professional police services that incorporate strategies grounded in community engagement and collaborative partnerships that address causes of crime and disorder, that help solve neighborhood problems, and that improve quality of life in Richmond.

In compliance with professional standards established by the Oath of Office, Professional Code of Ethics and administrative directives; perform in a manner that promotes public trust, confidence and sense of safety and security.

Called several times throughout the day about disruptive neighbors and was told the police would come out. They never did, despite me pleas. This does not make me feel very safe. What is the point of having the Richmond Police if they just ignore you?
I have no idea what Richmond police Department does. On our main street of San Pablo Ave there have been 2 homeless encampments. They are in front of the former Jerry's Bar at Rheem & San Pablo Ave. This encampment is very large and on the sidewalk all the way up to the street. This encampment has been there at least 2 months. I do not live in Richmond but a nearby city that have to go by this location on an almost daily basis. I rarely see the police on San Pablo Ave.
Disgusting childish behavior from supposed grown adults. Why are nearly all officers so afraid of being on camera?? It makes us law abiding citizens wonder what youre so scared of being captured on film. D, Reina is not nearly intelligent enough to be a superior and clearly displays the traits of a bad cop. You guys should be ALOT more concerned with how you portray yourselves and your department. Because it is bad and only getting worse.
BayAreaTransparency You Tube Video. Watch the video before leaving a review. The ego, and childish tactics are totally uncalled for. These officers could be capable of getting someone killed. I worry for their wives and children.
I just wanted to say that I experienced the most beautiful moment of my life without anybody dying there is more female cops that I ever seen in my entire life thank you they handle this situation very professional and I feel more comfortable driving out on the streets seeing officers that will protect us I place couple of videos actually too and they're handling this very well I lived in San Francisco Oakland now in Richmond and for me to witness this it was amazing there was so many guns pulled out and I know we all go through stress but they send the K-nine to do it business and God bless to Richmond police department and to every other officer in our country ‍‍‍‍‍‍
Stop conducting unreasonable searches and seizures. If the driver says "no" to a search, you may NOT search the vehicle unless one or more officers can CLEARLY ARTICULATE a valid reason probable cause. "Moving your hands suspiciously" before a stop occurs is NOT a valid reason. This is coming from someone who supports the thin blue line: Some of your officers do not deserve a badge. You are losing support from both sides when you conduct yourselves like this.
Richmond police officers actually show up! As a San Jose resident that fact alone is suprising. The officer who helped us 3 separate times was caring and compassionate. Experience with home welfare checks, burglary and the passing of my grandmother were made better, not worse with the help of a kind officer.
Violating rights to ID someone that welcomed on the fire department property. Threatening arrest when someone refused to give up their 4th amendment right. Tyrants are going to tyrant. Avoid this City until they clean up their fire and police departments
I called the non-emergency line and called in regards to obtaining information on an active warrant for a loved one that is incarcerated in Federal Prison to help get matters squared away. But they wouldnt tell me anything or even point me in a direction that would and said named person would have to appear personally.. lmao.. they are incarcerated. And then told me they have a 911 emergency call and to hold. Never came back on the line which I dialed the non-emergency number. Very unhelpful and unprofessional. Just same ole typical law enforcement, self-centered and power trips with no respect for the American Citizen!
I want to thank with all my heart on this special day to Officer Tracy Mollenbernd for the favor and the gift she gave me on my birthday. I lost my wallet with my documents and with a little money someone found it and gave it to him and he saw my kaiser card in my wallet he went to kaiser to request my phone number he called me and informed me of everything and that the I had my wallet, endless thanks to him and the Richmond police department for their great work.
