This page highlights the newly created Valley Presbyterian Church which emerged from the legacy congregations of Athens & Sayre, PA and Waverly, NY.
Valley United Presbyterian Church is truly a unique congregation.
The Penn-York Valley or “The Valley,” as this area is called, is located in the Twin Tiers (northern tier of Pennsylvania and southern tier of New York), between the Susquehanna and Chemung Rivers. There are three communities here in the Valley - Athens, PA, Sayre, PA, and Waverly, NY - and all three are connected within a few miles of each other. Before 2013, each of the three communities had their own Presbyterian church, and in January 2014, they decided to merge.
We became "Valley United." Though the three "legacy" churches (how we refer to our initial three churches) have been in existence since the 1800s, we were officially founded on January 1, 2014. And we took up residence in our permanent facility in Waverly, NY on October 1, 2017.
We're a growing congregation who is very open to new things and new ideas, and we welcome you to explore a relationship with God alongside us!
Valley United Presbyterian Church is home to those who continue to search for and grow in God's love, demonstrating respect and appreciation for others and our differences which, in turn, helps us minister with empathy and love to each other and our community.
