I have had two bad experiences with this office and with the American Fork location and I will not be returning. I hardly ever write reviews but I am writing this because I want to dissuade anyone from going here to avoid the stress and confusion that I have experienced. I give it two stars only for Sandi Burkinshaw, N.P. She is an angel and I would recommend her to anyone. But it is too bad that the assistants and office organization ruined it for me. They are terrible with communication and it has cost me extra money and a lot of stress. Not to mention, the general feeling among the people at the desk and the nurse assistants is that they just don't care and are maybe even annoyed that you're there ?? Just recently, I went in to get a urine test because of some severe UTI symptoms. I had scheduled a next-day appointment. The nurse administering the test was not particularly friendly but that is just a small thing compared to what else happened. She said that they would give me a call in two days when they got the results. I never received any call and then it was the weekend so I would have to wait until Monday to call them and ask about it. On Sunday, I started experiencing a deep pain in the right side of my back. It kept getting more severe and I started to have chills so around 11pm my husband and I decided to go to the ER. I was diagnosed with a kidney infection and prescribed antibiotics immediately. So now we have outrageous bills from the ER AND from Valley Women's who did nothing because I still have never heard back from them about the results of the urine test. My husband called them and they said that their records say that they had called me twice three days after I came in and left a voicemail my voicemail was not set up. I had never received any calls from them. My first visit a year ago was a less serious, but still annoying, experience. Sandi prescribed me a drug and the assistant gave me a number to call to work out where to pick it up from. I called the number several times and they were confused and said that they had not received any prescriptions from Valley Women's under my name. It took a couple more phone calls to find out that they did not even carry that particular drug at their company. I then called Valley Women's and left a message. They did not get back to me for several days so I had to call them again. The first phone call was confusing and unhelpful. Finally, the next phone call, there was somebody helpful and friendly that apologized for the confusion and gave me clear directions on where I could actually pick up my prescription. In total, this hassle took at least two weeks and I was clearly anxious to begin the prescription as soon as possible. If anyone from Valley Women's reads this, could you please train your employees better? The lack of organization and courtesy is totally unprofessional. Thank you.
I felt unsafe here. They said my baby would not make it. Thank God I am 32 weeks now. They don’t look over their charts. Are extremely un knowledgeable. They made me wait 1 hour in old dirty office for one appointment. They use words like you failed and if you get happy because baby is head down try tell you yeah well baby can turn around again anytime. I need a real Doctor. Second review I wrote. Why was the first one deleted??
I had a positive experience with the rotating doctors, and with both of my deliveries. However, since having both of my babies, I’ve had debilitating migraines each month with my period. They last 4-5 days and excedrin and ibuprofen only take the edge off. I’ve brought it up in my appointments on multiple occasions and just haven’t been taken seriously. I wondered if they were worried that I was asking for a stronger painkiller and I wasn’t. I just want to figure out what is going on and why I can’t get the migraines under control. I’m finally switching to another gynecologist to hopefully get some answers. Disappointed with the overall women’s healthcare.
I feel pretty lucky to have stumbled into this clinic because of wanting to see Sandi Burkinshaw, NP! She has such a sweet demeanor, a heart of gold, and just feels like an instant friend! This location is the furthest location I've seen Sandi in, but she makes every location worth traveling to because she's really one of the best OB's I've seen in my life! At first meeting a few years back, you really don't know what to expect with first impressions, and I gotta say I feel like I've won the lotto with Sandi. There's just certain reasons as to why you don't like to go to your "annual" check ups, but with her, I seriously look forward to going so I can just see her and "catch up" with, like an old friend. This location is pretty clean, and upon first entering the building - very inviting! The front reception area has a nice big flat screen and it plays family/kid friendly movies so your children/family can comfortably lounge and watch while they are waiting for you. All the staff I've ever interacted with there are always super nice and friendly and just really make you feel at home. The level of communication you get from staff to doctor and then back to doctor to staff to you is pretty great. They also get back to you within a 24-hour window if you leave a message for them regarding prescriptions. Looks like I've found a permanent place for my OB needs!
I went with concerns on cyst on my ovaries. I went in cause I found out I have then when I went to the ER. Anyways I came in with the results print to show the provider. The first thing I’m told is I have PCOS. I was super emotional cause I heard PCOS has infertility issues sometimes. I asked the provider and she said don’t worry about that you can have kids. She gave me three options of birth control and send me on my way. While I was on the birth control I was super emotional and just cried all the time. When I called cause I had decided which birth control I wanted to start taking after two days. I called the nurse and asked her to be able to send the medication to the pharmacy. She sent it off and said do you have any questions and kinda laugh saying or where they all answered at your visit. I was in shocked with the way the nurse acted. No other test were run she just went off the CT scan. I went to my PCP and asked for another OBGYN option cause I wasn’t happy with the one I was given. I got so many testing done with my PCP and as well got asked so many questions. I ended up finding out I don’t have PCOS.
I am very disappointed with the care I’ve received from this clinic. I went in 3 separate times with pcos concerns and was told “you probably have it but don’t worry unless you’re trying to get pregnant”, I left in tears feeling very discouraged and finally decided to give the clinic one last shot, I saw Erica Nelson who was helpful and addressed my concerns at first and ordered labs, after 2 weeks no one called me with the results. After calling 3 times they finally answered and gave me the results. The medical assistant told me they were all “normal” and didn’t explain a thing to me. Erica finally called me two days later and said that my symptoms were “probably just genetic”… I finally decided to see a different OB to get a second opinion and they said that Valley OB was mistaken and I do have pcos.. very discouraged as I tried to get answers for 2 years and my concerns were pushed off to the side. Will not be returning to this clinic again.
I went in to do a urine test for a uti and i and I was unable to leave a sample. The staff was very rude and unprofessional. When I came back to the front office the girls working up front were giggling at me and made me feel really uncomfortable. The doctors are amazing but the staff at this location were not professional at all.
I'm honestly very impressed with the care I received today from the Valley team. I have bad anxiety, and after a very bad experience placing my IUD a few years ago at a different OB/GYN clinic, I've developed a bit of a fear of seeing a gynecologist. Thankfully, I feel much better about future appointments after visiting this location. I was seen by Charlie Rowberry for my annual exam and to discuss some pain I was having. At once, Charlie could tell that I was nervous and was very kind and talked me through everything she was doing so I felt more comfortable and prepared during my appointment. At one point during the pelvic exam, I began to tear up due to nerves and Charlie went above and beyond to assure me everything was fine and to talk over what our next steps were throughout the procedure. She then came to check up on me after I finished dressing to make sure I was okay. I applaud Charlie and the Valley team for their compassion and for treating me like a person instead of just another face in the exam room. Thank you.
I’ve had 2 babies with Valley and I’ve been a patient with them for 5 years now. I’ve had good experiences and bad. I had a miscarriage while I was their patient and I was very appreciative of their sensitivity. That’s the good, now onto the bad. I went into my 38 week prenatal appointment and asked the doctor to strip my membranes if he could. This was my 4th baby and this was a procedure I had done with my 3 babies, so I knew what to expect going in. It was terrible. The doctor was pushing down on my stomach with his free hand and I think I’ve blocked the rest of it out because it was honestly a little traumatic. I left the office and had to go to the hospital that night because I was leaking amniotic fluid. I had a small tear in my amniotic sac from whatever the doctor did to me the hospital ended up sending me home that night because it was such a small tear. For the next WEEK I had to call the office repeatedly to beg for help with my condition. Every nurse I spoke to gave me a different answer and no one seemed concerned about me or my baby.
My first appointment with this clinic, they lost my pap. Literally only reason I came to this place. I don’t know that I’d trust them with prenatal care if they can’t handle one lab sample. It took over a month to reschedule due to only allowing me one slot to come in without allowing other people with me. At one point the nurse I spoke to asked if I was sure I had actually had the Pap smear done. I had to check on my results with the lab because I was unable to actually get through to them besides the one condescending nurse. Seriously do not waste your time with these providers. I cannot imagine having a medical concern while pregnant and trying to get assistance and care through them.
