As one of the first abdominal transplant programs in the country, the VCU Health Hume-Lee Transplant Center has been home to many important firsts, including Virginia’s first kidney transplant and Virginia’s first liver transplant. Hume-Lee also opened one of the first tissue-typing labs in the world, and established Virginia’s first vascular access program.
