Venice Museum & Archives (VMA) is the official repository for the City of Venice, Florida. Its mission is to collect and preserve historical and archeological material relating to Venice and the communities of Nokomis, Laurel and Osprey, whose histories have all been interwoven from 1867 to the present time.
VMA has temporary and permanent exhibits year round. Permanent exhibits include Venice Area Fossils from the Burgess Collection and Dr. Fred H. Albee: A New Beginning for Nokomis and Venice
A portion of the VMA collection database is available for online research at venicemuseum.org. For further research or photograph requests/purchases, please fill out a Research Request Form or Photograph Order Form and mail to 351 Nassau St., Venice, FL 34285.
The Venice Museum & Archives is housed in the charming, historical 1927 Triangle Inn listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is located 3.5 blocks from downtown Venice at 351 Nassau St. S at the west entrance of the Venice Cultural Campus. The Cultural Campus also includes the Venice Public Library, Venice Art Center and Venice Community Center. The VMA is also across from the Arboretum at West Blalock Park.
The purpose of the Venice Museum & Archives Facebook SMS site is to facilitate the distribution of information from the museum to the public. The museum is owned and operated by the City of Venice. City staff shall not respond to posts made by the public to the museum Facebook SMS site and all such posts shall be taken down or removed by an account administrator as soon as possible.
