Vermont Tree Goods (VTG) creates furniture from recycled heirloom trees that have reached the end of their growing years. Through the transformation into furniture these magnificent beings extend their legacy by living on in your home.
As evidenced by the source of our raw material, we at VTG are highly aware of the environmental impact of what we do. For every tree that we recycle, at least one healthy tree will not need to be taken from the forest and the important role it fills there.
Our passions run deeper than just the environmental impact of our work. With a strong belief in the importance of creating a home environment that is warm and beautiful, the furniture we craft is stunning and welcoming. We take away the sharp corners and edges of standard furniture and replace them with the smooth natural “live-edge” lines of the trees from which they come. The qualities inherent in the wood inspire the unique and timeless designs. In addition we use a blend of traditional and contemporary woodworking techniques to produce stunning and solid one-of-a-kind furniture that is second to none.
Driven by a desire to create a better ending for the oldest of Vermont’s trees rather than seeing them discarded because they are too big and “misshapen,” VTG has assembled a team of artisans and craftspeople who are passionate about what they build. Due to the size of the trees we use, much of our furniture is made from single pieces of wood that are not glued together from many smaller ones. By milling all of our own lumber, we are able to unlock the hidden gifts that these trees have often taken more than a century to grow. The beauty and character of the lumber we use is found only deep within such trees. We consider ourselves extremely fortunate to be able to work this amazing material into furniture that will enrich your family for generations.
