Everyone always says, " The VA is terrible," well NOT this VA! This VA has friendly, helpful staff. The facility is immaculate. We have never had a bad visit here. Staff will stop in the hallway and provide directions if you look lost. Travel pay is done promptly. All the staff we have come across are courteous and polite.
I went to this va hospital several times before in the past and I was treated with respect and dignity I had no problems what so ever with the staff at all I was always able to get my appointments in time and be seen on time my doctor who seen me was wonderful I don't know what i would do without this va hospital they are my lifesaver and they sit down and listen to me if I had concerns concerning my care thank you so much for everything you do for me God bless you all.
Had a dental appt...the dental clinic and the eye clinic are as good as anywhere! They seem to have a problem keeping doctors in the other areas though. I was told it was because "No one is allowed to make more than the POTUS." I'll keep my opinion to myself on that . I've been receiving all my medical care there for over 20 years and I like it there.
I am a veteran but I just came today to get enrolled in their system and to ask about a covid shot the lady here at the enrollment office is a first class person very extremely efficient and friendly Stacy and Jessica extremely helpful actually everyone here very nice personality so I would highly recommend this hospital to all
Update on August 18th 2023. I am now aware of how bad VAMC Clarksburg is. One of our neighbors was prescribed the incorrect medication. It has literally destroyed his intestines and left him near death. Thank God that he has some family that is helping him along. The medical practitioner that injured him is responsible for hurting others as well. Cautionary tale. Also, a member of my family was given an injection for covid-19, and they hit the wrong area, injuring a nerve. ER doctors are not very helpful and dismiss it with some medication. Instead of addressing the problem and training people correctly, especially the young lady who obviously was a newbie to the whole thing, they're ignoring it as usual. That is my opinion, and by God I'm sticking to it! I am really pissed right now at them. It's a rat's nest. In my view. It needs to be rooted out. Avoid visits if possible. Private outside care might be better, but God help you either way because we seem to have some competency problems these days. I would give this facility zero stars if possible. Read on for further comments. -------------------- Sadly, I must change my ratings of this facility. I blame the situation sqarely upon the "Biden Administration" and the liberals who think veterans aren't owed anything. This hospital had 5 stars in my prior review. Today, the wife, a disabled veteran, had to avail herself of the ER staff again. We were at the hospital a total of 5.5 hours, and there were only a few scant patients. Per the attending ER there, staff had been CUT IN HALF. He administered a COVID test to my wife, but could not provide the normal, expected flu/RSV because that had been "REMOVED" as unnecessary by the VA. The ER MD had a lot to say about THAT as well, because these were given all the time, every time, through Summer 2022. Now, in the Fall of 2022, when the flu becomes prevalent, the VA decides it's not needed. Since WHEN is the VA system any kind of expert in things "medical?" Well, they have become that true oxymoron of "government intelligence" now. The news articles I had read months ago talked of eliminating services at ALL VAMC hospitals, places where every veteran we know and knew would always resort-to for their myriad of injuries, treatments, etc. So now it's happening anyway. News says it was killed. Nope. It's happening. And then, to add insult to my wife even further, we waited an hour and a half for some meds at the pharmacy. The meds were filled while my wife was in ER, but nobody in the pharmacy section thought to look for them when we first asked. "Oh, we'll call you when it is ready" was the standard reply. Well, it WAS ready. For an Hour and a Half! My wife just needed to get going. This was a full day of nonsense. Look, I have no problem with the health providers overall. Some have been exemplary, true models of medical science Dr. Covelli and Dr. Wiskowski, to name two key physicians in my care over the years. They were and are amazing. But...the problem is the system and the problem is the current administration in-charge, which seeks to shunt the blame to everyone and their cousin. Know what? "The buck stops here," and Harry S. Truman's words are no less true today. I don't need to hear anything more, will never go there again. My wife must make her own decisions about this place. You may not like my review, but I speak from my experience today, and from the heart. I know where the blame lies and where evil lies.
I was a patient there for over 20 years and I was treated like a person and was cared for very well I unfortunately had to move and I miss that care where I go now you are treated like just a number not a person great facility and I miss it immensely
I’ve been going to the VA off and on for the past 30 years and between the va and private practice I’ll take the VA any day of the week. The staff is great and I rarely if at all, remember ever having problems with anybody in the staff. Everyone has the same genuine concern for their patiences. And the waiting is very reasonable.
I choose the VA for all of my care. This facility has made a lot of upgrades and now they are getting a parking garage to make parking easier. The care at this VA is top notch. The staff respect the veterans and are friendly, and show genuine empathy for the veterans. It is sad that only veterans can be seen at the VA, because it is that good.
I have been going to this VA since the 90s and I think it's great. I've seen such improvements and each and every year the care gets better and better. I don't normally rate places unless I really love it. I think most of the staff is overboard friendly and extremely knowledgeable. And I was a police officer in the military and a nurse in civilian life before a head injury put me on disability. They catch things early if you go to your appointments, be honest and report any and all information about your health. Also, be patient with the construction. It's improvements!!
I’ve been going there since I’ve got out in 2010. Other than the ER horrible I’ve had nothing but quality care up there. I’m currently recovering from Gallbladder surgery that was done Tuesday and I could not have asked for a better surgical or post op team. The surgeon Dr. Michael Covelli was extremely informative and professional as was the nurses. I was sent home virtually pain free even after a surgery. The only issues that I have had up there was trips to ER where it seems like they treat you like a drug seeker or just push fluids into you and send you on your way. But again that’s only the ER. My primary care team, mental health Dr as well as other specialist I have be under care of have been nothing more than compassionate and caring towards my overall health. The wait times are a little slow at times. I believe the main issue why Veterans hate the VA is more of an administrative issue well above the doctors there.
