So, I this morning I had some time to kill before work. I was kind of just driving around and I came upon the Veterans Memorial Park in Port Arthur. Now, first off I'm sure everyone had driven past it while driving to the Rainbow Bridge and since it is there all alone it is real easy to miss it. We'll, I told myself "Self, let's take a gander" and off I went. There doesn't seem to be much parking but I don't think that place really gets all that packed too often. Over all it was nice. I use to be in the military myself and although I never went to fight during any war was in the US Coast Guard I have much respect for anyone who fought to protect my freedom. I went in the early morning and there was no one there, which I liked. I prefer to pay my respects alone. The downside to the park was that it almost felt like a ghost town. The bathrooms were as if no one had ever cleaned them. Other than that it was nice to those soldiers being remember for there thoughtless bravery. I thank them all for there service.
Beautiful place to visit at sunrise, peaceful, a very nice memorial, needs a little TLC…if walking in the morning bring some mosquito repellent…thank you for your service!
This is a very cool place but it appears they are not maintaining it well. Some interesting military equipment on the grounds as well as various plaques. Easy in & out off highway and parking right when you pull in. Sidewalks throughout. Worth a stop to pay tribute to those that served. Good views of the Rainbow & Memorial bridges in the distance also.
Really nice park .. the memorials were beautiful.
Such a wonderful tribute. Enjoyed it very much. Very informative. Thank you.
This is a place where you can remember the soldiers who lived in golden triangle and have died in the different wars or bellicose interventions of u.s. Is clean spot, you can take good pictures along the army weapons tanks, planes and jets. Thanks to all who have served and sacrifice their lives in post of freedom and peace.
Nice little stop. For it being a little stop pin the side of the road there was quite a bit to see. We probably spent about An hour there to see and read most everything.
This is such a beautiful and solemn place.
Enjoyed the displays and location.
We enjoyed our visit, but my husband being a dedicated veteran was disappointed in the condition of the flags. GOD BLESS AMERICA
