This position is responsible for creating and maintaining supportive relationships between the university and multicultural alumni, as well as engaging alumni through university programs opportunities, and services.
Multicultural alumni are valuable members of the Virginia Tech community and are crucial to the fulfillment of the University's mission and success. Alumni Relations is committed to building a more diverse, inclusive and connected alumni community in which every voice is valued.
The Director of Alumni Relations for Diversity and Inclusion (DARDI) develops on and off-campus activities to support engagement and encourage diverse alumni involvement. Examples include networking and career opportunities, speaker events, affinity reunions and student collaborations. They also serve as facilitator for constituency alumni led societies and networks, including but not limited to the Black Alumni Network, the Ex Lapide Alumni Society for LGBTQ+ and their allies, the Latinx Alumni Network and the Native and Indigenous Alumni Network. The director also collaborates with other campus partners to support additional diversity events involving alumni.
