Virginia Tech, one of the top land-grant universities in the nation with more than 30,000 students, can sometimes be a bit overwhelming for new students. VTSA is designed to ease the transition from high school to college by coupling required coursework with opportunities to learn about university expectations, make new friends, and to become familiar with the campus community.
The university has found that students who enroll in programs like VTSA have higher levels of satisfaction in personal adjustment, institutional choice, and a more enriching academic experience than non-participants.
VTSA combines popular courses that fulfill graduation requirements, along with peer mentoring to promote a solid foundation for the start of the students academic life at Virginia Tech.
VTSA takes place during Virginia Tech’s second summer session and is only open to first-year students accepted to the university. Students should apply as soon as possible as space is limited.
