Thousands of artifacts chronicle the heritage and traditions of the nation's oldest state-sponsored military college - the Virginia Military Institute. Featured exhibits include "Little Sorrell," the war horse of Confederate General "Stonewall" Jackson, and uniforms worn by the famous general who taught at VMI ten years before the Civil War. In addition, the world-class Henry Stewart Antique Firearms Collection presents over 400 rare weapons, including two dozen Colt Paterson revolvers.
The mission of the VMI Museum is to collect, preserve, and Interpret the heritage and history of the Virginia Military Institute and its alumni.
