Description

At Volusia Medical Center we take pride in providing the best care possible to our patients and their families. We provide primary medical care to all ages from newborn to elderly. We can accept most insurance plans and cash pay patients are also welcome.

New patients may register online at : volusiamedicalcenter.net.
After registering, we have a new patient specialist that will contact you directly within 24-72 hours to get further information and schedule an appointment. We do also need paperwork filled out so feel free to stop by any location or download it off our website.

**It is advised to please call the office AND your insurance company to confirm we are a network provider with your insurance prior to registering.**

Dr. John Yee, a licensed family medicine provider and wound care specialist.

Dr. Priscilla Luong, a licensed pediatrician and internal medicine provider sees all ages and especially enjoys meeting the little ones!

Dr. Jonathan Treece, our very own tickle monster, is a licensed family medicine practitioner accepting patients in the New Smyrna location.

Dr. Harvey Schefsky, a licensed family medicine provider accepting new patients of all ages in our Deland location.

Anthony Lagana ARNP, licensed nurse practitioner specializing in family medicine. Currently, he is only able to see 12 yrs and up.

Kayla Ritzel ARNP, a licensed family medical nurse practitioner seeing all ages in our Daytoona location.

Jennifer Wood ARNP, licensed nurse practitioner in family medicine.

Noah Bigman is an absolute gem. He patiently listened to every single concern I had, asked follow up questions for details, and validated me. He gave me options and we came up with a plan together. My two kids and I have been seen here since they were babies they’re now 7 and 9 and while no office is perfect, I am very happy. The provider turnover rate is high so it’s tough to see the same person long term. The woman who schedules appointments is so kind, competent, and cheerful- I look forward to talking to her when I call.
We were recommended to Dr. Casey for a pediatrician. We live in crescent city and was dreading the hour and ten minute drive however, when we got there and met her we just knew she would be the perfect pediatrician for us! She’s so sweet, always has a smile on her face and is excited to see our baby boy AND us! We feel so welcomed here. The lobby and rooms are always clean. All of the staff is so very friendly and we refuse to see anyone else if we can help it! Whenever we have a small emergency they always seem to get us in on the same day to get our baby boy checked out. She’s very thorough and explains everything in so much detail if we don’t understand. Even handed us her personal number to make sure we can get a hold of her! There’s not enough words to express how much I truly enjoy going to every visit and how much we are able to trust them. 10/10 recommend!
I was treated with the utmost respect, dignity, kindness and with a quickness! Reason for leaving was insurance change. Any referrals, medication was called in promptly. No waiting ever! Clean office. I loved the staffing. They all were pleasant.
I had doxy teleappoint on oct 11th for covid got a drs note for 5 days and was suppose to go back to work on monday oct 17th but I am still sick and still positive for covid so I called the office for a new drs note that my job needed in order to be pd for being out .I never received a note that day so I called back on Tuesdsy Oct 18th and was told I needed to see the dr again so I had an appointment at 430pm yesterday the dr told me I would get my note yesterday after our appointment never got it .Its now Wednesday Oct 19th at 140 p.m and I have called them 3 times so for and still no note and my boss is going to fire me if I dont give them this dr note .Its crazy what do I need to do to get a note for work . I will update if or when I get my drs not .Oh they had no problem taking my money again for a copay tho
Dr Nalini Casey is excellent. She’s very relaxed and really listens to you as a parent. Noah Bigman we had to see for an urgent sick appt with my 4 month old running a fever and had cold symptoms. He was very efficient and even followed up two days later to see how the baby was doing and if we needed any additional appointments, abx. Etc. Excellent bedside manner. Office staff is not the friendliest but I understand they’re dealing with high volume and multiple practices, doctors, patients, insurances etc NSB docs are great.
I made an appointment for my son after bringing him home from the NICU. I wanted the DeLand office because it's closer to where I live, but because he's preemie, I had to go to the New Smyrna office, which is an hour away from home. I was told that because he's preemie I couldn't wait to take him to DeLand for the next available appointment, so I drove the hour to the New Smyrna office. When I got there, they told me that I had to reschedule because I wasn't there 15 minutes before the appointment and it was cutting into the doctor's lunch. This is absolutely unacceptable as no one ever said that I had to be 15 minutes early and I was on the phone answering new patient questions when I made the appointment. I'm angry because I couldn't wait for the DeLand office and now I have to reschedule past the DeLand office appointment I could have had?!? Not to mention driving the hour and wasting gas. I changed his PCP to another pediatrician. I need a doctor who actually cares and this one is NOT IT.
Suckiest service of all that’s why the name had tried to put itself up there but couldn’t. Service is 0 on the scale of 1-10. Watch out from Maryann, she’s not patient with her patients and she’d misguide you and delay your appointment and even delay authorization on your meds orders. She’s not supposed to work in the medical field anyway.
I originally thought this was a great place for my children. Doctors, nurses, etc. seemed kind, caring, and professional. Years later, I’ve continued to experience worse service at the time went on, but I tried to remain positive and keep my children at the medical providers who “know them best.” My last physical experience there was what I thought would be my final awful experience with them, but due to my family moving out of state - the mess continued on. My son’s last appointment consisted of us arriving half an hour early, signing in, and waiting nearly TWO HOURS before we were acknowledged from there. I don’t have to say how boring waiting rooms are for a child, let alone for two hours, but my son did well considering. Finally, we were over it. I asked the woman at the front desk what was going on, as I was ready to leave. I was told “It shows the appointment scheduled at the Daytona office.” This being the office 30 minutes from us, and also where we have NEVER been to. When we originally arrived, we were checked in at the New Smyrna office. Then checked out at the Daytona office. This all happening without our knowledge. When the problem was finally discovered after I had asked what was going on, I was told they would get my son in as soon as one of the physicians was done with a patient. Once again, we waited. When we were finally seen, I could hear the staff discussing how the situation could have happened and who it ultimately fell on. Thankfully, I knew I would NOT be returning to the office because my family was moving soon. I informed them of that and was told how they’ll have all information for moving schools, doctors, etc for me to make things easiest for us. They even let me know how I can call after the move and easily receive any extra information I may need. I was not given the information needed for my children before I left. Shortly after our move, I attempted to obtain my children’s information from the office. They told me that, even at their MOTHER, I could not receive it and their PCP would have to request it. I asked if my husband/their father, who was in town for work, could even physically pick them up and was told the same. Being only a couple days that we had been to the new state, we did not have a primary care doctor. My concern was getting them into school ASAP, and clearly they were not concerned. The final physical visit was not the end of our miserable experience with them. I rushed to cancel our previous insurance in Florida and apply for new insurance so I could get a PCP. After a week of continuous back and forth and conflicting “answers”, things seemed to FINALLY be figured out. Records were supposed to be faxed on a Friday. The records were not faxed until the following Thursday. It’s INSANE that a BIOLOGICAL parent cannot receive information on their own children. I can say we always received GREAT service from Anthony and it’s a shame that he, along with any physicians, can lose patients due to others repetitive actions.
I wanted a doctor to see my son yesterday for severe coughing and sneezing. We believe it is from allergies. They wanted me to test him for Covid first. I tested him and it was negative. They then told me to bring him over and they would meet me in the parking lot and give him a test and wait for the results. It was 90 out yesterday. I could then either go inside or go home and do a telhealth. Rediculous!!!
If I could rate zero stars I would. This office is a dumpster fire Update 2018: this place continues to be the kind of awful that requires effort. I recommend not trying to call as it it will ring through for an eternity then direct you to leave a message for a call back which will not happen. Two days and several calls later I am forced to drive in to make my appointment. I walk in to a ringing phone me still calling and an empty waiting room. Too busy for the phone but I’m in and out in 3.5 minutes. Update 09/2017: they're in the process of costing me an appointment I scheduled weeks ago because when I requested my imaging results be ready for pickup they apparently decided I only meant one. Iv been waiting half an hour for a PA to sign off on their release. Please don't rely on this place for anything, I wish I hadn't. Impossible to get them on the phone, I once sat on hold for 25 minutes while I drove in and made the appointment in person while still on hold. Iv never had an appointment where I was seen at or even within 20 minutes of the scheduled time which they insist you arrive 15 minutes prior to. Referrals are almost impossible, sometimes take a week or more if they remember to send them. The doctors and medical staff are awesome, but they're guarded by an Israeli iron dome defense system made out of incompetence and understaffing. If my time was more valuable I would take my business elsewhere. As I write this I've waited 33 minutes past the scheduled time of my appointment.
