Great place! Lots to do if you like coffee or wine. It's a nice airport. Cool aircraft often visit the airport, like the B-25 and B-17 pictured
This the worst airport not only are the people that work customer service not knowable but just dont give a care they need more training not only at the desk but at the equipment. DE ICING. Take the time to drive to seattle or spokane less headache. I know i will. Positive is the airport is clean and free parking
Car rental is available, which is kind of amazing for the size of the airport. The rental counter hours are short but they have an off hours key dropbox and on pickup will watch for flight delays so it works out fine. Otherwise the airport's a cute place, always reminds me of a Lego set with everything scaled down and arranged just so.
Ya gotta go through the Gun Club enterance to get to the race track
It’s a very little airport, however with much greater facilities than a typical Class-Charlie airport that you’d expect. The decorations are very nice, clear instructions, and nice setting. TSA lines can be a bummer but it never takes too long. Occasional exhibitions with Ft Walla Walla museum and air shows.
My flight was an hour and a half late, causing me to miss my connecting flight. Instead of being home at 6:00 pm, I won't be home until 12:30 am the next day. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, but once you go through security you're walled off from everything except a few vending machines, and there's only one toilet for everyone waiting for the flight. The airport is very clean.
Small airport, so the time to check in and pass through TSA is very short. They do random checks on people, which is needed because of how small they are. They are in fact very thorough when checking the bags, so people shouldn't get upset about that.
Cool little airport...emphasis on little. We walked in to check in mid-afternoon and the lights were off and only 6 people were around. Our plane was the only one arriving and then departing that afternoon. Sure is nice to walk inside and you are there. The security folks plainly have too little to do. I fly a lot and purposely wear clothing that goes through the scanners, whether magnetic or otherwise. Of course I set it off. Everyone set it off. Then I'm selected for a special check. Fine, whatever. They took my backpack apart - the same one that passed in ATL, DTW, ATL, and SEA in the previous week. They flagged all 3 of us who came through TSA Precheck at the same time. Wack. TSA went through all 4 of our checked pieces too. All 4. Even more wack. Like I said, cool airport, small airport.
Small airport and very strict on departures. Make sure you are on time earlier the better. The Alaska ticket counter closes 40 minutes prior departure of your flight. If you are checking in baggage you will not be allowed to board the plane. The doors at the plane closes 10 minutes prior departure and you will not be allowed boarding the plane. Rental car companies open at 9 am and closes at 5 pm. Can't get a rental car from the airport also if you are arriving after 5 pm. Limited services. Small and cute airport.
Most of the staff is polite, but the ones who are not make this airport not only an unpleasant place but also not a safe one for people of color. Specifically, Bridget who works in TSA. My girlfriend had a scheduled flight which she had missed due to a combination of weather issues, car troubles, and TSA incompetence. While pleading with TSA to try to work with us to find a solution and possibly get my girlfriend on the flight, Bridget decided it would be appropriate to imply that it was our own lack of intelligence that caused us to miss the flight. This obviously led us to be very upset with her. A little while later, the TSA people did not realize that we could hear them talking and we overheard them laughing about the situation and making fun of my girlfriend and me. When they walked out and realized we were still there, they quickly shut up. One of them stayed behind to try to claim they were not speaking about us, but based on all that we overheard we are not convinced of this. The next day when my girlfriend went to catch her rescheduled flight, Bridget was the TSA person working at security. When my girlfriend handed her her ID at security, Bridget tried to claim it was fake. Keep in mind, my girlfriend is Mexican. She has flown multiple times within the country using this exact LEGAL ID and has never had any issue or such an accusation before in her life. There was absolutely no reason for Bridget to make this accusation, and it made my girlfriend feel very very unsafe. This behavior was incredibly inappropriate and she felt specifically targeted.
