Thousands of pilots trained in an AT6 and transitioned directly into the fighter aircraft they would fly in combat. She is known as “the pilot maker” for a very good reason. Equipped with a 600HP Pratt and Whitney 9 cylinder radial engine, she is capable of performing all the standard flight maneuvers used in military transitional training. The next step was aircraft such as the Grumman F4F Wildcat, F6F Hellcat, Republic P47 Thunderbolt, Chance Vought F4U Corsair and North American P51 Mustang.
Jim is a professional pilot and flight instructor who has accumulated a total of 8100 hours flight experience over the last 30 years.
Born into a family with a strong military flying background (Uncle Kenny, WWII Army Air Corps flight instructor; Uncle Dave, WWII Army Air Corps B17 crew chief; Uncle Bill, Korean War era U.S. Air Force B25 bomber pilot) it’s only natural he would own and fly a WWII era aircraft
