The level of care received here post surgery was extremely disappointing. My mother, at one point in the middle of the night, was ringing her call bell for 25 minutes to go to the bathroom. You can guess what happened after that. There was another time she was left to sit on the commode for almost half an hour, long after she was done. There was one fantastic nurse that took great care of her, but another that treated her like a third class citizen. This is all too surprising after the extremely high level of care that was received after our experience at Winchester.
Before my total knee replacement at the Winchester Medical Center, I could walking was very painful and required using a cane. Following surgery, Physical Therapist Stacy Deering coached me to a full recovery. One of the toughest things to do is get full range of motion in the knee after surgery. At this facility, patients transition into a regular exercise program. A year after surgery, my knee range of motion is now to 38 degrees, and I continue to build my strength and endurance. This is a patient-centered facility with excellent community outreach.
