I am a resident artist at Washington Artworks . . . and cannot say enough good things about the place. The staff is incredibly supportive and the other artists are . . . not only amazingly talented but a fabulous group of people to be around. They are excellent artists, terrific friends, exceptionally professional and truly interested in their collectors and first-time buyers or others who are just interested in finding out more about art, types of art, collecting and purchasing art and getting to know the community. Friendly, helpful and exciting community to be in and to visit!
I love my studio! It's clean and well maintained. The staff are friendly and helpful and they work hard to promote the artists and the studios. There have been many outstanding outreach events that are well advertised. Also, they are very creative when thinking about the events and how to reach out to as many people in the area as possible.
Washington ArtWorks, a nonprofit organization, is a wonderful setting for artists I'm one of them and a terrific community resource. The campus is made up of two buildings that house more than 50 artists as well as the Washington School of Photography. It is also home to two galleries, an art gift shop and an overstock store. The location, on Wilkins Avenue in the Twinbrook area of Rockville, is Metro accessible, handicapped accessible, and has plenty of parking. The staff is exceptionally responsive and helpful. On First Friday evenings, a reception celebrates the opening of a new show in the galleries. Other events include Open Studio Weekends, benefit drives and silent auctions and classes in many art media. I love the place.
As a fairly new resident artist, I'm amazed at the richness of this supportive environment! The other artists, covering many mediums, are generous with critique and encouragement. The atmosphere is upbeat. Demonstrations and useful classes push growth. Visitors react with pleasure and surprise when greeted warmly by artists and artwork.
My two daughters’ and I have taken three different classes and have enjoyed all of them. The glass fusion class was fun, so was the jewelry making class but the stained glass class was my favorite! I highly recommend any of these classes not only for you but as a gift idea as well. Who wouldn't love to get their inner craft on?
The atmosphere here at Washington ArtWorks is delightful, easy-going, fun and entertaining all around. The staff, resident artists and students are a joy to be around!
There's always something going on at WAW! Tons of arts workshops, shops to buy local art from, galleries with awesome and sometimes juried! shows. They even have a store that resells art supplies at steep discounts!
Very creative, friendly and supportive place to spend my days! Love the place and I'm so glad I found it. Lots of fun things going on every month and great classes too.
Best artists venue in the Rockville area.
