This place is past its prime. The workers can only do so much to keep it nice. The place was ruined when they allowed it to be used as a homeless parking lot. Now it smells of urine. Tweakers tend to bother you to ask for water to do heroin, ask for meth or other drugs. I'm pretty sure it'll be redone and turned into something else at some point. One can only hope!
This could be a nice place if the parks maintenance crew would pick up the tinfoil coated in drug residue, straws and pull the 4 foot tall weeds a d grass. The tennis courts are never used. I don't even see nets. The baseball/softball fields have weeds along the edges and the fence.
It is not primarily a sports complex, but known more for the subway station. It is a normal station, and has the newly built Wingspan Event and Conference center very close. Also, very well connected to other areas in the city and has a safe and ample parking for park-and-ride commuters.
When we visited the fairground sports complex for my daughter's softball practices and tournaments, I had mixed emotions about the experience. On the one hand, the fields were in pretty decent condition and provided a suitable space for the team to practice and play. However, the surrounding area was a bit disconcerting due to the presence of homeless and transient individuals. In addition to the area's less-than-ideal atmosphere, the bathrooms at the sports complex were not up to par. This was especially concerning for the little girls on my daughter's softball team, who required proper facilities to feel safe and comfortable during games and practices. Overall, while the facilities at the fairground sports complex were functional, the environment and bathroom conditions left much to be desired. If you're considering this location for sports practices or tournaments, it may be worth exploring other options that prioritize safety, cleanliness, and accessibility for all players and attendees. Restrooms: Not clean!
They have allowed for part of the grounds to be used for tents to be set up and used for housing homeless people during the pandemic in one section that's monitored and regulated. Their is also another area designated for houseless people wi RV's, where they can safely park and be safe as well. It's also monitored 24 hrs a day with security. They just ask that you agree to follow a short list of rules to make it safe and comfortable for everyone that's staying there. It's a really great program they have going there right now. Their are so many people that have become homeless during the pandemic and with the fires. The non profit that is running both programs is really great. They've done an excellent job with everything and they are eager to give help and resources to anyone in need.
Thank you for caring letting us have a good stay.A great start in life with the help you all have put in to placement.During this time of time
Took our son to the Washington County Fair, the fair was fun but a lot of the people not so much. My husband wore a sun hat that has an American flag theme under the brim and his flag shorts, he served our country, we are in America last I checked, yet the looks we got from people was really disappointing, then when we went and got food the gentleman who rang us up gave my son curly fries that were not cooked, just soaked in oil, and he practically threw our meat at my husband, when we said thank you he just scoffed and walked away. Now I'm sorry but if there is a problem with the American Flag in America then that person needs to rethink where they are living.
Tennis courts have big cracks running down 3 out of 4 courts. The lights are very dim and do not illuminate the court enough to play at night. It's easy to tell these courts and probably the rest of the park isn't as well maintained as other parks. The park at 53rd Ave is much better and well maintained. However the courts here are often busy.
Great place. Lots of baseball fields, but Porta John's are nasty. So, go to the bathroom before you get there. Otherwise, beautifully kept.
We used the sports fields for kinder soccer games. The complex is nice. The only bad thing is the parking "lot" is just a dirt/grass field that does not do very well with any rain. It immediately turns into a muddy, mud puddle filled mess. Wear your mud boots if any chance of rain!
