The Office of Diversity Programs is dedicated to promoting a diverse and culturally competent community within the Washington University Medical Center.
In 1972 the Office of Minority Affairs at Washington University School of Medicine was created to recruit and provide support for minority medical students. Recognizing the growing cultural diversity of the country and the increasing concern with health inequities, the Office of Diversity Programs was founded in 1996 with the additional goal of teaching students the skills needed to attend to an ethnically and racially diverse patient population.
