We used this as a stop on our way to Acadia and to visit a friend in the area. Facilities were pretty good. The staff was all very friendly and they definitely enforce the 5mph speed limit. We had a site on the pond with full hookups. Easy parking. Other campers were friendly and very quiet. We were there when it was hot and during the day most people were in their campers with the AC running. They had a live music show while we were there, but it ended by quiet hours and wasn't so loud that it disturbed campers. Definitely a place we will use when we are camping in the area.
We were looking for a place to camp near Portland so that we could explore the city, and stumbled upon Wassamki Springs. This campground was WONDERFUL!! It had full hookups, was well wooded, and the people could not have been friendlier. On one of the days, we realized that we would not be back to our campsite before the camp store closed, so we called to see if we could get firewood. Not only did Robin help us purchase firewood over the phone, but she had it delivered to our site, and left us a few extra goodies on the picnic table. True hospitality and customer service. The seasonal campers were just as friendly and helpful and we felt very welcomed. We'll definitely be back the next time we're looking to stay in the area. Thanks so much!!
Great little campsite, very friendly staff. I wish it was a little less expensive for a tent site, but compared to prices for hotels in Portland, it was definitely a good deal. We only stayed one night but the facilities were nice and clean and there was breakfast and a little store on the property.
An older but very well maintained campgrounds that is very convenient. Nice bathrooms and camping lots. Swim pond is beautiful with small island. Reasonable rates. Quiet nice play and recreation areas for children. You'll be glad you stopped here.
Really cool place, has a beautiful natural spring feed lake that has a big beach. But seasons over so nothing to do at Camp ground. People are nice enough but do not go over 5 miles per hour. They were totally ready to close down for the year.
We were there for one night in August in an rv. Management was well aware that there would also be a tent pitched on the site. We were given the lowest site at the campground as was evident the next morning after a night of rain. The tent was in ankle deep water. Be very careful and ask questions. Section I is not where you want to be in the rain. Most of the campground is occupied by seasonal and permanent. The bath and showers were ok. It was nice to get a swim in the lake when we got there. Management was friendly. For $96/night we could have done better somewhere else.
Definitely for families with the lake, playgrounds, volleyball, pickleball court, basketball, etc. Oddly, the pickleball court is next to the trash bins, and the main road so better not miss a hit. A nice man meets you as you drive in and directs you to a parking area. He also advises you to have you IDs available huh? at check-in and notifies the office that you have arrived. The ladies in the office were very nice and check-in was quick. They give you a map and send you on your way. Most roads are dirt. The main road is paved but that’s it. The roads are wide so maneuvering around is easy. All cars were parked well off the interior roads. Most sites are seasonal, some in good shape, others not so much. The placement of many of the RVs is like a puzzle so it appears disheveled. Not even sure how they got the RVs in there. The map they give you isn’t to scale or even correct. Our site was not where it was indicated on the map – which ended up being a good thing. We were able to pull straight into our site. It’s just dirt and we could see where mud had formed from previous rain. And the dirt was very attracted to the bottom of our shoes. The site was level overall and we were able to use our air levelers. We were parked under pine trees so I suspect we brought a few souvenirs with us. The space between sites varies widely. Satellite is possible in a few sites that are in the open. They have cable but we didn’t try it. The WI-FI did not work. Verizon was 1-2 bars but our hot spots acted wonky. The park is three miles from Portland airport so airplanes are just overhead quite frequently. They start early – before 6:00 AM. There is also road noise from Saco street which stays pretty busy. This place reminds me of the camp in Dirty Dancing which is too campy for us.
We wanted to find a nice place for a weeks stay that would be convenient to Portland and Kennebunkport and thankfully, despite it being Labor Day weekend, we were able to find that at Wassamki Springs. Pros: The park is very spacious with a nice large pond that you can fish, swim, or boat in. Sites were fairly spacious for the most part, though I did see some that were a little tighter. They have a game room with pool tables and other games and even a jukebox and they offer things like a weekly bingo night and Sunday breakfast in it. One unique thing that I liked was that each spot had multiple faucet hookups which may not always be necessary but it was a nice thing to have when we needed to run water outside without having to unhook our hose pipe. Each site came with a fire ring and picnic table which are always nice to have. Also, most sites were pretty well shaded. Cons: Phone and internet service were not very good at all. We have Verizon and were barely able to use it. And their wi-fi was basically useless. Thankfully we had our Verizon jet pack hotspot that we were able to work off of, though even that didn’t work great all the time. Each site offered cable but for whatever reason ours didn’t work so I’m not sure if that was for the whole campground or just our site. All of the sites were just dirt which is not a huge deal but it can obviously get messy, especially when it rains. Overall: This was a very good campground with a lot to offer. There are a lot of seasonal or full time campers there so some sites are a little junky because of that but for the most part it looks pretty clean. You also have to have proof of rabies vaccination for any of your dogs so be prepared for that. But overall this was a good campground for all age groups and couples or families and it’s just a few minutes from downtown Portland so very convenient to a lot of stuff!
Camp helpers snotty not friendly! Had to walk a long distance just to check in even though they said we could just pull into the gate and get our campsite! We had given all our info prior to our arrival and were told the man at the gate would give us our site but that wasn't even close to right and he was snotty as was the woman at the desk! This is a beautiful park but N O T camper friendly! Prices are high but the nasty help really did it for us! Don't waste your money here! Definitely do not recommend! There are other camps in the area stay away from this pharse!
Beautiful campground. We decided to stay on the pond, so we didn't have sewer. But it was totally worth it for our short stays! Very quiet, happy people. Staff was very helpful and friendly. The hand is scooped ice cream at the camp store with free chocolate and sprinkles was a hit we will definitely be back when visiting the Portland area. Easy access to everything there!
