My sister and I got there Friday, went to register our other family and friends coming for 1 night. I was told 2 tents plus our small camper on site just stay in our site. Takes lots of time to set up a tent in heat. We get all settled go to pool, phone rings the rudest person "you need to remove 1 of your tents" I was so upset, I was in middle of family event that she ruined! I said I'd just pay extra, put on my card on file. I hung up, she called me right back, That can't happen she said. You need to remove the tent now. Again, I was in the middle of event over at pool. My precious family time was ruined by wrong information and rude staff! I paid big money for frustrating time.
Fantastically over priced park. Yes, there is lots to do but if you can't get it done in your stay, you have over paid. This park cost me $150. Canadian for one night to write an amazing review on an over priced park with amazing included services.Rooms: 5/5
As long as you're not expecting private lots even in the "premium areas", this is the best campground to bring your kids in OOB! Clean facilities, well groomed and level sites, easy in and out layout and lots of stuff to do. A bit expensive in comparison, but worth it.Rooms: 4/5
We have been to Powder Horn many times over the years. The campground is very nice, clean, good amenities. Employees are friendly. However, it is very expensive. They charge extra for everything...you have to pay extra for a 2nd car, for additional people over 2, pets etc. Our 4 night stay was $667 for a family of 4 with no pets and 1 car. We used to be a group of 8+ families on this trip and we were down to 4 families b/c of how expensive it is. This year their WIFI did not work at all. You couldn't check the weather, get directions, load google - nothing. You should get amazing WIFI for the price they charge. Sadly we will not be back.
Stayed here for an extended weekend during the off season, so it was less busy and pretty quiet. Had a premium site. Sites were nice, level, and had plenty of space and are not crammed in like most RV parks these days.Lots of great amenities to keep the kiddos busy. The grounds were clean and very well kept. Staff were all very friendly. We travel alot and this was by far the nicest Campground we've stayed at! I read a lot of reviews complaining about wifi. In my experience no campground has perfect wifi but com'on people unplug and enjoy your surroundings! We did have our dog with us which I had no problem paying extra for. The only negative is that being a " family" campground I would think children are included in the price and I didn't love having to pay extra for my children to come along. Otherwise our stay was fantastic, really nice place and location was a short drive to the beach or groceries.
Not happy. Stayed here a few years ago and was disappointed when they charged a pet fee! This year, I for the heck of it I started an online reservation and when I clicked we had dog, I was not prompted for a pet fee. Surprised, I continued the reservation. Yesterday when we arrived, they didn't have a record of us having a dog. I honestly advised them yes we do and they proceeded to inform me it would be an additional $48 for the week! For a dog that doesn't even use the facilities! Absurd! It is expensive enough to stay at these resorts a pet fee is just an excuse to charge more. If I hadn't already paid my balance and checked in online, I would have turned around and gone home or elsewhere. And, when I made the reservation, it looked like the resort was nearly booked and busy. I am here, and the place is desolate and no one here! I like it quiet and not busy don't get me wrong, but why make it look difficult to book a site when you are not busy!? This will be my last stay here and will never be back. Other campgrounds in the area are much more reasonable and accomodating. Very disappointed.
I didn't like paying $13 for our pup when the camp didn't do anything for her. Otherwise, our site was OK though with no grass, it was very muddy. The campground has tons of rules, like no deliveries past the front gate, which was a half mile from our site. We didn't have a car, and both of us are disabled. Overall, I would choose another location if we ever return.
Please take some time to upgrade your internet, we’ve been coming for 40 years as a family and I carried the tradition on with my kids and now that they’ve grown, we changed to coming with a large group of friends, over the last few years your internet has gotten worse & worse. We have a few business owners who travel with us and without the internet capability they aren’t going to be able to keep coming as their employees need to be able to get ahold of them while they are gone & of course the cell service is non-existent becuase there are so many users. Please take some of this seasons profits and upgrade your internet so we can continue this tradition for another 40 years to include our grandchild. Thank you for always keeping the campground clean & safe! Until next year….
This camp ground likes to pick and choose who they like to stay! Me and my family have been going for years now! 2 years ago they said we were banned from the camp ground for leaving confetti all over when we didn't have confetti ever and last year they let us back if now they gave us a refund and told our group to go else where!?
We have stayed at 4 OOB campgrounds. Powderhorn is our favorite. We like that only the groundskeepers may use golf carts . This keeps the noise down and the roads safe for kids to play. Most sites are very roomy. Bathrooms are very clean. Nice play area:playground, mini golf; shuffleboard, volleyball, 3 pools, 2 hot tubs and a calisthenics area. Activities on the weekend also. Although I really like this very clean campground, there are a few negatives. The WI-FI is awful! Boosters need to be set up around the campground. Maybe a covered outside pavilion? Adult bingo? DJ and dancing? I know there are some scheduled activities, but more is always better. We will back regardless
