Waterbury station

Description

Waterbury, also known as Waterbury-Stowe, is an Amtrak train station in Waterbury, Vermont. It was originally built in 1875 by the Central Vermont Railroad.During 2006, the station underwent a major renovation project, during which the building was restored to its 1875 appearance. Corrective structural work was done on the trackside wall and canopy and water drainage problems were addressed. Workers also rebuilt the bell-shaped cupola on the top of the central tower. Inside, partitions were removed to expose the original 18-foot-high vaulted ceiling. Green Mountain Coffee now leases most of the space in the depot.

August 2022 - A great addition for commuters to the Metro North New Haven train line, this station located right next to the long published Waterbury newspaper's clock tower and business, Republican American, is also connected to Amtrak and its daily routes. Anytime we've used this stop it was on time, clean, easily accessed and there was always a parking space. There is not a way to buy tickets on the platform so it's best to purchase them online, though passengers can buy them underway from the conductor. A bus stop for the station is also available. Noting one person's negative comments when I clicked to review this, it's true that there is no cover from rain if you're without an umbrella.
Once a great city is in need of much Masonry rehab work especially retaining wall structures in need of repair. Too bad there is not a community program to teach young adults the know how and ability to fix these gems ! Some masonry is truly a work of art!
For the terminus or beginning of a line which takes over two hours to travel, this station is underwhelming, with no bathroom, refreshments or any amenities besides an unheated, unenclosed shelter and sparse benches. Somehow marginally homeless people also ride the train here in sizable quantities, with all their possessions in multiple plastic bags stacked around them. The building next to the station has a distinctive clock tower, but otherwise looks abandoned.
Good service, when the train is not running They provide bus service. The almost always on time, here and there it might be late but in general they leave on time. I don't give it a five star simply because the bathroom in trains are not very clean at all.
Today October 21 my paraplegic daughter was being the train and was told by a train employee to hurry up. She was rushing and forgot to put on her seatbelt and fell head first and hit the pavement and both employees watched as her sister struggled to get her back in the chair offering no assistance.
Unlike those of other cities and towns, this train station platform lacks the basic amenities like a newspaper stand, coffee shops, publicly posted signs and directions. Still, plenty of parking are available.
Arrive 5 minutes before departure, trains are super punctual, if you arrive a minute early- you’re gonna miss it- seriously!
No inside seating. Parking lot is unpaved and dangerous to walk through if you have to go to your vehicle.
My review of the Waterbury Train Station is as follows: This place is an absolute disaster. THERE IS NO TICKET MACHINE. The building is actually some newspaper press and you don't have where to go in. The platform itself was one covered sitting area that doesn't offer much protection from the elements. Although free, the parking lot is unpaved. The entire place isn't taken care of; it's a vital station for many residents and the least the city can do is to bring some level of comfort. We are not animals, and even then I wouldn't let an animal stay in that living hell. Absolutely dreadful. The trains are about or at least 30 years old, fashioned with very few charging outlets. There may also be an empty wallet scam happening on the Bridgeport - Waterbury route. Tread carefully.
This is a very cheap way to get to places that are not in Waterbury CT and if you don't want to have to pay a lot of money for someone to drive you in their vehicle and you can go to local places in Connecticut and the train station can take you to New York City for 10 bucks for Sr/dis not sure on the other prices but it is pretty cool I just took it to New York before I got on the train I was thinking that it would be a lot a money but it turned out to be a lot cheaper than I expected it to be and it is a fast trip better than taking a car or bus and the seats are not so bad and there is a bathroom on the train unlike cars and some buses
