This RV park is immaculate! I was afraid to make such a nice post because this spot is so nice and very well managed. You almost want to keep it a secret, but watermelon resort deserves all the praise for hosting us. We stayed during a holiday weekend, our check in was simple, gated spots, pristine bathrooms, and beautiful views. The resort has a small market on-site for any missed items and tubing connected to the park. The river is viewed from most of the spots or an easy walk in the park. All patrons minded quiet hours and were courtesy of our camp. We really enjoyed ourselves! If you venture off grounds, there is a nice farmers market with hot pies, fresh produce, and canned goods. It's definitely worth a stop Restrooms: Pristine. Very clean! Dog-friendliness: When we visited, almost everyone had their dog. Must be leashed
I recently had the unfortunate experience of visiting this establishment, and I must say that I am thoroughly disappointed with the level of service provided. To begin with, the registration office was an absolute nightmare. Despite the scorching sun, there was no attempt to provide shade for customers waiting in line. Astonishingly, a basic queue shade wasn't provided to alleviate the discomfort of the guests, in a long line, resulting in an unnecessarily lengthy and uncomfortable wait. The lack of consideration for customer comfort extended to the waiting area for bus pickups. With no awnings or shade available, the experience was particularly distressing for elderly individuals who had to endure the harsh sun. On top of that, the presence of porta-potties next to the line exuded an unbearable, nauseating stench that made waiting an even more challenging ordeal. It only added to the frustration. The thoughtlessness behind these arrangements is truly baffling. While I did find solace in the river tubing experience, it's important to clarify that any enjoyment was solely due to the natural environment and not the service provided by the establishment. I hope that my review serves as a reminder to the management to address these concerns and make necessary improvements. Providing basic amenities and showing consideration for customer comfort would drastically enhance the overall experience and prevent others from enduring the same frustrations. In conclusion, my visit was a stark reminder that a beautiful natural setting can only do so much to mask the shortcomings of poor customer service.
Wonderful little campground that offers an excellent tubing experience. After parking near the check in booth, you take a school bus a few minutes down the road. You're given a tube and if you need it a cooler tube. You walk down a paved road into the river and then - you float!! The river is meandering, shallow enough to get out and walk and beautiful! There are mountain views - and we even saw a bald eagle! It can take as few as 2 1/2 hours, or longer if you stop along the way to swim. The perfect way to spend a hot summer day!
This was our favorite campground thus far. We’ve been weekend warriors for 13 months, trying new places every time. Checking in and setting up could not have been easier.
I’ve been to watermelon park three times. The last time I went was 2017 then again in August of 2023. i’ve been to watermelon park three times. The last time I went was 2017 I was surprised that the entrance location changed. We used to be able to ride down the river and get out and be able to walk back to your car now you have to take a bus back. I like the old way because you were able to play around in the water for a little bit before you went back to the car and take photos with your family and just relax. This time I felt a little rushed because the bus was full of passengers, and they were sort of waiting on us to hurry up, so we could all go back to our vehicles. The experience was wonderful just like the previous times we have gone, and the weather was perfect. I will definitely come back to watermelon park as my back to school tradition with my family.
We have been going here for years and never have we been so disappointed by the customer service!! Drove an hour to get there and they told us they couldn’t take walk ins after 1 because of the possible storms. It was 12:50 and there were plenty of people with wristbands ready to tube, what is the difference!! I understand that they have to close for the storms but the website says to check facebook for possible closings and there was nothing written there… Looks like we will be taking our money elsewhere.
No pix this time just enjoyed my float down the river. Friendly, patient and cool staff. Bring cash to tip the bus driver and be ready to have some fun! If u wanna hook up with another tube just ask for some rope!! They got it!! Going back next week!
Don't do it! Not safe dor my kids. Poorly managed. Follow language by staff. Faulty equipment. Pretty river view thou. Not even for free Restrooms: Nasty. Dirty. I used water from a bottle. Dog-friendliness: Loose dogs everywhere. Had to call police.
Online mentions Sunday hours till 4 p.m. Drove out and arrived at 3 p.m. mind you I called 20 minutes prior asking about purchasing water shoes only to be told upon arrival that they stop tubing at 2. Recommend updating your website.
The tubers come and just take over the local boat ramp with no guidance that I could see. Bus just dumps them off. The tubers are rude to locals using the ramp, and there is no courtesy whatsoever for loading or unloading. They leave trash everywhere, including on rocks in the river. Hopefully with better management all can enjoy the river
