Waveland Cafe

It's your basic local diner that serves decent breakfast, gets you in and out quickly and is a dependable go-to in times of a need for quick, decent meal. The coffee is hot, the pancakes are quite good, and the bacon and eggs are exactly what you expect them to be. This is a no frills place. It's old and there is no trendy decor--just a good meal served quick and hot.

This is a good place for breakfast. Omelette was delicious. Place was busy the whole time we were there. The hashbrowns were cooked perfectly not greasy at all. Parking is an issue here. You may have to slide down a side street.

I WENT THERE AGAIN 04/12/2022 See bottom of this review. Waveland Cafe has a variety of tasty breakfast offerings. I was here for the Eggs Benedict . My wife and I went here so I could try their "Bennys" . I have a "top ten" list for these. After our visit I rated these "Bennys" as #1 out of 10. My rating is based on 3 weights : 70% = taste 20% = presentation 10% = price The drawback for the "Bennys" is they are only available on Tuesday. Continues to be a 5 star rating and number one on my top ten list.

Wonderful, friendly atmosphere, amazing food! I googled best places to eat breakfast in Des Moines, and this popped up. We came in and had to wait...so we knew the food was going to be great! No disappointment here! Absolutely wonderful experience. We live in central NE, and I am so glad we made this extra stop! The staff was bubbly, friendly, and super fun. I'm definitely coming back!

Absolutely Amazing!! We travel quite a bit and can honestly say this was probably one of the best breakfasts we've had! The staff were so welcoming and the food was delicious and so fast!! We will definitely be back!

Always busy. Super friendly. Amazing food. For sure home cooked comfort food. The artwork on the front of the building windows changes pretty often. Always super colorful and creative. Not a large place by any means. If you show up on a saturday after 9 am, expect a wait. No waiting area... Standing room only or outside waiting. So worth it.

Never had a bad meal at this place. The food makes me feel like I'm back in my grandma's kitchen and the staff is always so nice. Cozy place that can sometimes get a little crowded because it's GOOD.Food: 5/5

Pit stop 1 on our road trip from KC to Brainerd MN. Excellent service! Sour dough toast, gravy and corned beef hash DELICIOUS! Eggs cooked to perfection. Very friendly atmosphere. You must go!

This place was great! The staff was friendly, our server was amazing and the food was so good! We had the leaded hash browns and the biscuits and gravy over hash browns. Good coffee and an overall relaxing and happy vibe!
