The wait here is horrible I received my test results over 2 hours ago on my unchart and we are still waiting. The waiting area is filling up and some of the staff move like they don't care and they maybe call a person back every hour. I dont know if they are under staffed or what the situation is but waiting in this waiting area for such an extended time is going to cause more problems than the help they provide. I will give an update once we are seen. I spoke to Hannah the head nurse in charge and mainly what she stated was "I understand" incompetent?
My 89 yr old father was brought to the ER by ambulance last night and was put in the waiting room. They took blood work and x-rays and never called him back to address his issue. When he inquired they told him someone would get to him. Is this how you treat patients. I heard this was a horrible hospital and last night just proved it. I've left a message with the Patient Advocate office to file a complaint, which I don't think they will return my call. I have never seen a hospital with so many horrible comments. This place sucks!
We have literally been sitting in the ED Department for 4 hours. People that came after us have gone back and the lady with the multi colored hair is extremely rude..wish thete was another place to go where they actually care
I have only been living in this area less than 2 years. My co workers warned me never to come to this hospital and I read the reviews and hoped I never had to come here. Recently I had severe abdominal pain and since this was the nearest ER to my house I finally came. I expected them to do a quick check on me and send me back home with some medicine. They actually did the opposite. They ran many test on me and made sure they found out what was causing me pain. Once they found the issue they alerted me I will need surgery immediately. It was a scary situation but they treated me very well and made sure I was comfortable. The surgeon even came to speak with me prior to the surgery and explained everything he will be doing. The surgery went well and I am feeling much better. My experience was completely opposite of the reviews I have read. I don’t know if they have a new staff or just fixed the negative issues they have been having. I am appreciative and can only say great things about this hospital and they did a great job communicating with me and making me feel comfortable throughout my 3 day stay here.
Speaking only on behalf of the emergency department. This is by far the worst hospital I have ever had the displeasure of visiting. I've had to go multiple times and almost every single time the wait has been ridiculous to get a room.Triage is not done in a proper or timely manner. Communication amongst staff does not exist here, leaving the entire department disorganized. Multiple nurses sitting around on their phones as patients walk past. The staff at the front desk is also very rude. At my most recent visit, my child was very sick and began running a fever shortly after arriving. I told them she had been exposed to covid and that she was running a fever and we were still stuck in the packed waiting room for 2 hours before being seen in triage. Once we finally got a room, she was not given a fever reducer until 20 minutes before we left after spending a total of 5 hours there. NO results were discussed during our stay and I had to find out from her doctor the next day what was actually wrong and begin the proper treatment. This was not a one off thing, every time I have been here i have had similar experiences. Some of the staff is very kind and cares for their patients well, but overall this emergency department needs a complete reset.
Terrible experience every time I have to deal with these people. The staff thinks your faking your pain and just looking for pain pills. Had to be in excruciating, life changing, pain for 4 days before the urologist office opened. From there I had to have emergency surgery which could have been avoided if the doctor had listened to me when I told him it was a kidney stone, I know what they feel like I've had 3 surgically removed previously, but nope. There was no imaging or anything just a prescription for Naproxen and a "get in touch with a urologist." I'm just glad it didn't get worse than it did. Anyway I've had horrible experiences here and wouldn't recommend going unless any and all other options have been exhausted.
Went in for asthma related chest pains, shortness of breath. Waited for two hours struggling to breathe. After hearing other patients have been there for 4hrs+. I left and went to Wilson ER only to wait for the same reason. Really hope I don’t die tonight. Never will I be going back to either hospitals
Save yourself a trip, they don’t seem to care enough for their patients or listen to your concerns. They just like to get you out the door!! Everyone was RUDE
I always hear horror stories about Wayne Memorial Hospital, but when I went today, it was far from a horror story. Social distancing practices are to the utmost of standards. The staff was kind, thorough, and seemed to genuinely care about what I was there for. I only waited 20 minutes before being taken back to Triage. The doctor was in about 20 minutes later. The complete time frame for check in to release was 1 hr and 45 minutes. The person I saw was so patient and took the time to listen to me about all of my symptoms and concerns. I appreciate the staff at Wayne Memorial Hospital for all their efforts, especially given the dire shortages they are facing during the pandemic. Keep up the great work.
Garbage. Long waits even when it's not busy. The doctor almost received an attitude adjustment for the way he was talking down to my wife. The staff just kind of had a lazy attitude even though people had been waiting a long time, not busy. Next time, I'll just drive to Durham or Winston if possible to avoid this place.
