Mason Dixon Unit members learn and share their passion and knowledge of herbs.
We meet monthly on the 3rd Thursday of the month. We attend conferences, go on field trips, hold an annual herb sale, participate in local gardening and plant festivals and present educational outreach programs to the community that promote the knowledge, use and delight of herbs.
One of our projects is maintaining the historic garden at the Plough Tavern site in York, PA. Each May through November, in cooperation with the York County Heritage Trust, the Mason-Dixon Unit grows and tends a kitchen garden on the grounds of the historic Plough Tavern, 157 West Market Street, York, PA 17401. We are all excited that we will be able to show to and share with the public how a kitchen garden would have been in York City in the mid- 1800s.
If you are interested in herbs and want to learn more, we hope that you will join our enthusiastic group of herbies.
Regular meetings of member with educational programs are held on the third Thursday of every month at 7pm. We generally meet at the Paul Smith Library, 80 Constitution Avenue, Shrewsbury, PA 17361. Visitors and guests are welcome! Please contact us in advance if you wish to attend.
