The Earle W. Webb, Jr. Memorial Library and Civic Center was established in 1936 and continues to be a valuable community resource today.
In 1929, Mr. Earle W. Webb, Sr., began construction of a commercial building on the corner of 9th and Evan Streets in downtown Morehead City, NC.
The first few years the building housed doctors' offices, a garment factory training facility, and a 300-book library belonging to the Morehead Woman's Club.
In 1936 the Webbs' dedicated the building as the Earle W. Webb Jr. Memorial Library and Civic Center, in honor of their son who died.
In 2009, the Library and Civic Center celebrated its 75th year of service to the public.
