Wellington Ritz Theatre plays an active role in the promotion of visual and performing arts to the local and area wide communities.
The Ritz Theatre located in Wellington, Texas was built in 1928, and was the first theatre in its area to show talking pictures. The first event to take place in the theatre was the Democratic Party Convention. After the theatre closed down in the late 1970's it was more than 30 years before the doors were opened again and renovation of the theatre began. Now that the Ritz is open, the public will be able to watch current movies and also live productions and performances.
The Wellington Ritz Theatre, Incorporated is a not-for-profit 501 (c) (3) organization, established to maintain, promote and operate the historic Ritz Theatre in downtown Wellington as a community and regional center for the arts, culture education and appreciation of the cinema.
