West Boynton Branch Library

This branch of the Palm Beach County Library system provides plenty of space for quiet research, study, reading, and use of computers. It used to be a great place to read newspapers and periodicals. Since COVID, there is now only a very limited selection. The web site makes it so easy to reserve books, video disc and eVideo and recordings for easy pickup at this or any local branch. There are also many research resources on the Web site. Self checkout out and hold pickup has been expanded.

Thank you to the wonderful staff for an awesome afternoon event. My 5 year old grandson and I enjoyed the Harry Potter movie, crafts and treats.

My printer is out of ink, and for some reason the scanner doesn't communicate with the computer. I went to the library and I was able to use their computer to pull out some documents, print them, take them to the person I needed to sign them, come back to the library, scan them to send them to my email, so I could email the signed documents to the company that needed them. All for 75¢, which was the cost of printing the 3 pages, the scanning was free. And the staff helped me all the way through the process, they were incredibly nice! And in the meantime, my boyfriend borrowed a couple of Jack Reacher books, hehehe

This library is part of the library system for Palm Beach County. It's a small branch, but I have been able to get almost every book I wish to read, thanks to the ability of patrons to place holds on items in circulation at the various branches. Everyone is very helpful and courteous. Lots of DVDs available, too.

A really wonderful staff who helps you utilize the library's facilities. Three small study rooms that only hold two people. Palm Beach Gardens has ones that can hold 2,4, or 6. Facility is maintained well in the bathrooms are nice. Right off of busy road. Edited 11-3-22 This place has gone downhill. An elderly lady was being chastised for being on her phone. The security guard told her to go outside. It's hot outside, the lady was asking for a ride. Let's give her a break. The older man in charge of the study rooms was in a mood! I asked for a room and he said sure, then went to a room and told the people to get out. I said oh it's ok, I didn't need it for 15 minutes, and I was only going to use it for an hour. They said they'd be five minutes, and thank you so much. He turned to me and told me I can't be doing that, they have rules for a reason, and no one will listen anymore. Like, can we give a little compassion? What's the harm in 15 min? I feel like this is not a fun place to go. Libraries used to be my happy place. Now it's just BE QUIET AND LEAVE kind of atmosphere. Makes me sad.

Getting basic account information over the phone was painful, like talking to a disinterested bureaucrat upset you called before work ends in two hours. I will not be renewing my books here, nor will I coming back! If I wanted to be given lip service by a clearly bored and obstinate government employee, I would go to the DMV. *addendum* The staff is great, and I have since had several positive interactions with various librarians. That one time, however, made me feel some type of way for a reason hence the above critique, but everything since has been just the good. Also, they are very helpful with the Inter Library Loan system, and allow for renewals e.g. they advocate for you as a borrower, which is not always the case with other area libraries. Good use of tax dollars.

If Marlene owned a bookstore, I would go 2-4 times per week. I would read anything she recommended. Her smile is infectious, her attitude is always super positive and her kindness is unmatched. She is the consummate individual that every frequent visitor to the West Boynton library wants to interact with. She is both very professional & very knowledgeable.

I went to return my book at 9:30 and it was not opened yet so i the automatic book return but it was not opening. I walked around the back to employee entrance and gave the book to a lady to return for me. I called later to make sure she did. I spoke to this woman who told me its not on your record. I said does that mean she checked it in for me. Its returned? She said i don't know what to tell you its not on your record and hung up. So rude could not give a straight answer. Yes it was returned!

This library is really small but very nice. Staff here is very nice and professional.
