West End Animal Hospital is a full service, AAHA accredited small animal clinic established by Dr. Cottrell in 1986. We treat a wide variety of animals, ranging from dogs and cats to ferrets, bats, rabbits, rodents, small marsupials, and non-human primates. With a state-of-the-art in house laboratory and x-ray suite we are able to provide rapid in house diagnostics when your pet needs it the most. We offer boarding facilities to established clients and we are one of the few local hospitals that provide after hours emergency care, allowing you to see a doctor who is familiar with you pet. The vet and staff are wonderful.  Our girl had a tooth abscess and required antibiotics and surgery.  Dr. Dickerson is Nahla's usual vet, but due to the emergency care needed, Dr. Stevens stepped in.  Both doctors are extremely caring and skilled veterinarians.  The entire staff provided Nahla with top care. We are grateful for a veterinarian practice we can trust.

Dr. Dickerson always has the time to discuss options and how to best move forward. And understands I'm not made of money. I like that she examines my midsize dog on the floor rather than up on the scary, slippery exam table. Front staff "chaos coordinators" are great.

The doctors are lovely! Unfortunately the receptionists are some of the rudest people I’ve ever met. An absolute shame. Will be going elsewhere for future vet appointments.

We’ve been bringing our pets to West End Animal Hospital since 2001. We are always satisfied with the care our animals receive. The veterinarians are skilled, compassionate and supportive. I especially appreciate Dr. Schirmer who goes above and beyond providing explanations and sometimes drawings to help us understand pet specific issues.

They made getting my bunny neutered during this pandemic an easy and flawless experience.  I was instructed to park, call the office to tell them I've arrived, and someone would be out to take my animal in for me.  They brought the paperwork to my car and took the bunny in.  I never even had to get out of my car; it was "drive through veterinary service"!  Same thing when I went to pick him up.  He was brought out to me.  They took my credit card in and brought it back out for me, as well as the discharge instructions.  My visit each time took less than 10 minutes and they took good care of our bun.

I’ve been taking my little boy, Bo, here for almost 2 years to treat a recurring dental issue, and I have had nothing but positive experiences. Dr. Dickerson has been wonderful at dealing with Bo’s dental problems and being transparent in explaining to me what they do each time he comes. She is very knowledgeable about rabbits and great at communicating. Dr. Cottrell has also treated him several times and has done a great job. Bo always bounces back quickly, and I’m sure he appreciates them as much as I do!

My regular vet who is also a personal friend lives several hours away and usually comes to our house for routine checkups on our animals or to take care of any livestock issues, but she referred me here about a year ago when we needed to spay our older Great Pyrenees.  She was extremely impressed with the facility and staff, and I was also.  I have since brought in two of my breeding dogs to get radiographs X-rays for their OFA certification, and both times it has been a great experience.  One of my dogs is timid when we are away from home and he put up quite a fuss when they tried to lead him out of the room, but they handled the situation in a friendly, cheerful manner. Communication is prompt and clear, and it is very easy to make appointments.  Pricing is reasonable and the quality of care has been great so far.  I'm sure I will be back! Went in with a friend. She has 3 dogs. Let me start our with my friends dog are quirky and are typically high strung. Now I cam say the vet we saw was amazing. The tech that came in was a little to scared to be working with the dogs. I did most of the controlling of the animals with me. I will recommend because as I said the vet was very thoughtful and made us and the animals comfortable. Got in got what she needed and boom Botta Bing all done. I would have gave 5 had the tech been a little more secure in her abilities and trusted herself. Sweet young lady just a little too timid for the animals at hand. We got right in and into a room. The desk staff was very personable and made all the animals and us very comfortable.
